Has anyone started a food business? Where do I start? Say I wanted to start a cookie company, where do I source my ingredients? That seems like the first step.

im guessing you start with wholesale whatever that is in your country
when you're really big they deal with distributors/producers directly im guessing
but cookies is such a well established market, whats even your edge to get in it?

What's so special about your cookies? If you have a banging product, you can meet prospective investors by showcasing your cookies at food shows and expos.

That’s just an example, I am not going to sell cookies. But I will be making a snack item that has no seed oil, which is virtually non existent on the market today.

Before you even attempt at getting started, you should do some research if you're going to lean in on the seed oil-lessness of your products. Do you know if there is a demand for seed oil-less snacks? How do you convince people that going no seed oil is superior?

I don’t need to teach them. There is already a market for foods without seed oils. I just need to get the product to them and market it.
