It's so lame that the market puts so much weight on days like today. I've watched like ten FOMC meetings at this point and it's always the same shit - they put out some vague Fedspeak statement that may or may not change expectations by fractions of a percent, and then retail goes absolutely NUTS as soon as the mainstream media can conjure up a headline to push sentiment whichever direction they want it to go. The moves in the market literally never adequately correspond to what the Fed says, it's just a fucking game.

Powell relents:

>"Soft landing is possible buy buy buy"
Powell does not relent:

The price will drive the narrative in this case, the real causal factors are elsewhere in the unthinking balance of flows.

Good companies raise capital after some PR pump. Shitcos raise company after an 80% decline.
Raising money at continuously higher valuations is somewhat ponzi like, but for longterm investors it beats the negative compounding of repeated 80% declines. Even if the shitco eventually hits a successful result and gets a billion dollar drug to market, early investors have already been completely incinerated. Investors know this, and so the shareholder base in a stock with a stable or rising trajectory will be stronger, making those dilutions more easily digested.

As for timing, 3 quarters of cash burn at minimum.

I agree with everything you're saying but let's make something clear: shitcos raise capital after a pump, just not a genuine pump. Usually from some shitty PR with statistically insiginifcant p-hacked topline data (for biotechs)

But you're spot on that gradual raises at higher valuations is far more palatable than the precipitous declines with no cash runway. The problem is that Shitcos can disguise as serious companies as they raise on fluffy headlines and their cash stockpile is substantial, insulating them from precipitous moves down.

The case for a stronger yen has little to do with interest rates there.
The point is that their currency today undervalues their economic productivity, and Japanese boomers are so obsessed with stacking yen that they continue to do so regardless of everything. Local inflation stays low even though yen has heavily declined in value and has no yield.
The carry trade of shorting zero-yield yen to buy 5% yielding USD will resolve as higher USD inflation eventually caps the dollar and leads to some reversal. As long as there's a perception of positive real yields in holding US dollars, it's profitable to hold. Longer term though, US dollar will be revealed as a yield farm ponzi, unsupported by our own economy.

This is a long term trend, not some quick flip that will resolve in months. For individuals like us, it's probably not worth focusing on over other trades. There are risks too. Demographics in Japan and most of east Asia are not looking great right now.

I think they're going to do another release and tap the SPRC dry because there's not another choice. Oil being cheap was keeping inflation manageable. When that runs out and it starts climbing again things are going to start sucking ass and they've still got a market correction to resolve before elections as well. I think they did the math on it, figured that dealing with expensive gas was better than dealing with a serious market correction that looks and feels like a crash, and decided to get the correction done before this year is out and use the oil until it runs out to try and keep a lid on things as long as possible. They're not going to let the market crash right before an election and there's no way it can be can kicked much farther out than another half a year or so without leaving them open to it failing at the worst possible time.
