Reminds me, how my Dad used to have us kids do this. hekp him sort through piles of coins.
Also, anytime he gave us money to walk down to the corner store and buy something, he always told us to check the dates on the coins we got back in change.
Dad was always warning us kids to look out for coins dated 1964 or earlier and always told us how they were worth 10 times face value because of the Silver.
So any time we found a 1964 or older coin, we would dutifully bring it to him and hand it over.

So you have roughly $3000 in discretionary income to spend on investments? I don't like investments outside of PM's and or other things I can hold, but I'm not sure I would recommend silver. Sadly silver is affordable for you, but it's also rather volatile, you don't have much to gamble with, and a major swing one way or the other could be disastrous for you if you would need to sell. That being said it's a judgment call on your part, I don't know the fine details of your financial situation, so maybe my assessment is wrong. You lose 25% of what you bought it for if you went and sold it, you need to buy it with the knowledge that you’ve already lost 25% of what you spent. Which makes it a luxury investment. they already do. The problem is the US pays much higher prices for those same wares. So the bulk of them go to the US. Banding together to raise prices on the US is just good business, but the US doesn't care about that. We can afford their stuff at 10 times the price they're charging, and if we don't want to pay that we just set up shop in some non-BRICS country and they get rich instead.

To actually offset the purchasing power of the west they pretty much need every country on board, and even then the power is in the pocket of the buyer rather than the seller. Worst case for the US is they win the trade war and we bring manufacturing back home. Which is what most working americans want anyways.
