>> No.56124208

You do the bare minimum so they don’t talk shit about you and can be safely referenced, and you try your hardest to mistrain the replacement

Short term it'd feel good to not give a fuck.
Long term, not sucking it up will leave you with shitty references which could potentially haunt you for the rest of your life.
Pride is a motherucker.

Offer to work as a consultant. State your hourly rate. Make it 1.5-2.5x what your effective hourly rate was as an employee. Do not budge when they try to jew you. You don’t work for free. It’s not good will, it’s them taking advantage of you by getting you to work for free after firing you. I can’t think of a worse way to insult someone

I am the only person with knowledge on one of their apps and they laid me off. They put a senior engineer on me to suck me dry until my last day. One of the managers who coordinated my exit who the senior reports to wants me help fix this issue before my last day said they can extend my last day if it doesn't get resolved by then. I've already signed the severance letter - It doesn't have anything about knowledge transfer or coming in to the office to help.

Spend their time and money hounding down every job application you put in to tell your next potential employer how naughty you were after they fired you?

Seriously, fuck them. I wouldn’t show up for a single minute after someone laid me off.

This is a wagie for life mentality right here btw.

Muh references.

If you don’t have at least one person in your life who can vouch for you already sucking this jobs dick isn’t going to help.

And guess what - it’s perfectly ok to say you got laid off at your last job and you made the decision at that time to focus on finding a new job, not helping the employer who just let you go hire your replacement. Nobody will even ask anything after you said “I got laid off during downsizing” anyway. Literally nobody will want to know any more than that.

The last job I got laid off from I did not ever even speak to the CEO again after that, I did not go to work the next day and I did not transfer any documents or anything.

Years later I was hired to replace the same CEO who fired me at that very same company. Karma is a bitch and you owe nobody anything, OP. Pride is worth everything.

Boot your pc in safemode
find out how to disable all the shit that comes on (typically services.msc in run, or msconfig) that will reveal you've booted up your laptop
then boot regularly

Also, do not agree to do anything. If they talk to you about anything, tell them to refer to the severance letter you signed. Be firm. "You've terminated my employment. Don't disrespect me by implying I need to spend my time to fix your problems. I am no longer your employee, this is what YOU wanted. I need to spend my time finding a new job. I will not do work I am not contractually obligated to do. If you want to fight me on this, I will get a lawyer and do what I need to do from a legal standpoint to protect my interests"
