Doubt it.
There is a youtube video somewhere about a company that was created to "grade" old school classic video games and such. The problem is all these people are doing is pump and dumping their own inventory. They did the slurping a long time ago and are now trying to create a grading scale and trademark to sell these items to retards who want to overpay.
That's not to say these things are valuable, it's just that any premium you could ever get in owning them has already been collected by someone else. All that is left is time find people who have a hole in their pocket willing to splurge on a piece of nostalgia. They could very well be worth $50-100 but no way in hell they go higher. The only reason they can even command those prices is because the American Dollar is still commanding a massive value and sucking the world's resources into our nation. The second there are severe hard times you better believe people will be unloading these luxury collectibles at the drop of a hat.

i think of "hedge against inflation" is misunderstood. it's not a normal inflation but hyperinflation.
let's take a rhodesian man and give him either 100k rhodiebux or 1000 ounces of gold. he's not allowed to use it for 25 years.
in hindsight which would be the better choice?
if i gave a zimbobwean man the same thing which should he choose?
weimar germany? venezuela?
they'd all choose the same thing: Gold.

if a fraction of my paycheck can be used to buy an ounce, while that same fraction is worth 3 months of another man's pay why wouldn't he choose gold?
no matter where you are, if your country's currency goes to shit there will always be one currency worth something.
it's like a cheat code for never being hyper inflated into poverty.

Hey Frogfren, I just got back from an estate sale about 1 mile from my house, besides other cheapie antiques not pictured I got a minimally used and perfectly functional Garrett Ace 250 metal detector for $20, costs over $200 new without accessories so a fair price for a spare i can lend to my dad and frens.

I mined out the jewelry area, everything was $4 each so I grabbed a 13.6g sterling Harley Davidson ring which might be worth flipping instead of just scrapping, then 2 10 karat gold bits weighing 1.5g for another $8. Only about $48 in total melt value but the price was right.

Probably my best score at just $3 was a leather-bound and gilt-edge 270 page book with hundreds of pictures showing the properties, power plants, mills etc that were part of the Pacific Gas & Electric system in California in 1911, very cool to look at. I need to research more but it seems quite rare and likely valuable, rich califags love blowing lots of money on rare and interesting antique items like this. Happy hunting and good luck scooping the cheapies!

I do think that some collector premium is valid and real. But for the most part much of someone's ability to collect derives not only from rarity and quality of the collector item, but also the PPP of the citizens who are doing the buying. The average person in this nation is impoverished and most of our purchasing power is contingent upon government spending as well as bank credit and the purchasing power of the dollar. If any of these things get rugpulled we will all be materially poorer. Some collectibles can survive that environment. Others will not. They will be seen as luxuries no one can afford.
The real litmus test is to consider how many ounces of silver/gold you give up to acquire said collectible and juxtapose it to a hypothetical scenario where PMs rise considerably. If we could safely assume that even in the worst case scenario of economic turmoil silver only does a 10x, would that environment be conducive to luxury collectibles also doing a 10x? That level of scarcity and impoverishment for the basic necessities leaves little room for people to spend $1000 on a VHS. Let alone $10,000. We've already seen price action of Rhodium and Palladium to know what these underdeveloped resources can truly do.

I just read a book called "the great taking" which basically makes the case that in Europe and America the brokers are selling "security entitlements" while simultaneously allowing for these very same securities (owned by the DTCC) to be used as collateral for other loans. So you and I are being sold securities that MAY be simulatanously pledged for senior creditors who will be able to take our ownership in the event something bad happens.
This looks to me like a way to clear the boards of overleveraged trades, naked short selling, and bogus derivatives by essentially being able to pull everything off the table and actually account for what is real away from prying eyes.
It's a simple book available for free and you can read it in 2 hours. Pretty confusing given how many acronyms and different agencies and regulatory bodies are in existence. Worth a read and has me second guessing things I own in my brokerage knowing I am basically nothing more than an unsecured creditor that is owed nothing more than an insurance payout that is underfunded 50 times over.

In addition to the philosophy of the Bible, I find the numerology to be perhaps the most fascinating part. “Mark of the beast” - in Greek, mark means to mark as with a pen or marker and also was the word to imprint on currency. That is, Roman Fiat of the day was marked with the image of Caesar Nero who was called the beast. Caesar Nero, when you add up gematria = 666

That’s a good one! Reminds me of the number of fish that Peter catches. The Bible is very particular about numerology. In the case of Peter, Christ helps him to catch 153, Jewish Numerology for “Ani Elohim” or “I am God”. This is why Peter Freaks out.
Brilliant stuff. To connect it back to coinage, here’s a beautiful coin portraying that very scene!

Notional represents the theoretical amount of an asset under control. I think Comex contracts are on 10k Troy ounces so you’d take spot times the amount of ounces and there’s your notional. In the land of stocks, I could buy a contract on $SPY with a strike of 500 right now. I’d control around $45k worth of spy theoretically and it would only cost the contract premium. I could buy a contract with 5 DTE for like a penny and still control those stocks theoretically. Realistically I donated money buying the contract

anon isn't of the bourgeoise. The common man during the victorian era didn't have access to that, and wouldn't have liked it if he did. Even the wealthy didn't admit to enjoying the female nude in a lustful manner, that would have been outrageous even amongst their peers. They admired the work of the ancients for its art, but laughed at the animalistic themes and topics portrayed. Has anyone here read this? It's truly shocking what has been set up across the entire world. Basically, any security you have can and will be taken in a financial crash with the collateral takers having full legal protections. This applies to the US, Canada, UK, Eurozone and pretty much everyone in the G20. Securities are no longer treated as property, but as entitlements. The protected class are the banksters and there's law in place that protects them from being nationalized as that would absorb the assets they have stolen. I feel sorry for all the honest people in the world who are going to be fucked by all of this. When you have the banksters owning governments who write the laws protecting them, is it any wonder why they can get away with this shit with impunity.

I remember reading the protocols and they speak exactly of a major economic crash that will have us eating from their hands like dogs. Not sure if they can pull this off, but the system is effectively unsalvageable on a long enough timeline. Shit will implode, and only then will we be tallying up the zeros.

How many people believe a massive hyperinflation will basically be them getting a free house and their portfolio will increase and will generally be able to survive after a few months of chaos? The banks have been lending and they will claw back all they can. The elite will need to recapitalize the banks somehow and they don’t want to do is solely on the back of the gold and a dollar collapse. Makes me think the dollar will survive if they can force everyone to eat the bond losses and then claw back every last mortgage and equity.
Lots to think about here…

The only difference will be that instead of multiple banks keeping each other and the government honest, it will be basically in game currency in an MMORPG. The admins (IRS/Fed/FBI/CIA/NSA) will have total control and oversight of your spending. They won't immediately abuse this power. It will be slow enough that no one will remember it was any other way.

Just like now with paper fiat and ledger money. No one alive has an innate concept of a "dollar" that's based on gold.

CBDC isn't going to happen. It's a crypto nerd fantasy. When, not if, the dollar collapses most of the world is going to eat a shit sandwich. And they are not going to accept some Fed magic shitcoin right after they got the final USD rugpull. Whatever replaces the USD as international currency, it will not be coming from Federal Reserve computers. The US government might try to force it on the American people, but that will fail also because Americans are heavily reliant on foreign trade and nobody else is going to take CBDC. The USA will have to go along with whatever the world demands for trade and that will end up being used domestically as well. Even if Americans are dumb enough to take digital internet money, the rest of the would will not and it ends there.

The value of the dollar depends on supply and demand. If they jack up the supply too fast they will have hyperinflation whether they like it or not. That's why the Fed is willing to suffer political heat to try and reign in bank credit right now. But Federal spending is outside their control.

I'm afraid you don't understand how debt based currency actually works. There isn't a commodity for it to hyperinflate against. There's no way for it to "collapse" so long as the IRS can enforce tax and only accept federal reserve notes. Anything you can speculate occurring can be resolved with the stroke of a pen. In most cases the net wealth transfer will favor the rich. If some large institutions are in infinite debt, they will just forgive it.
>crypto nerd fantasy
You obviously don't understand cbdc or crypto. They are different things and the crypto nerds don't want cbdc. If you are conflating them you are falling for the exact trick they want you to.

Not implying that at all. My point is that when the dollar fails it is not going to be just a matter of the Fed substituting some new fiat currency. Too many people will have suffered too much to just buy into it again. The ONLY reason the world accepted the USD in the first place was the promise of gold backing. The USA treacherously breached that agreement. When the USD ultimately eats it, the USA's day in the sun will be over.

You will be able to draw cash with cbdc. It will be exactly the same from the consumer perspective. They will just subtlety phase out cash slowly, despite what >>56123361 says about timelines. They took over thirty years between taking gold out of circulation and debasing the silver coinage. Shortly after that they removed the restriction on privately held gold. The target was never the people, it was the banks. The mob boss doesn't fear the citizen, he fears the other mobsters. Once the accounts are all on one server, individual banks aren't needed.

Yes, inflation is allowed and, in fact, necessary. They allow inflation to destroy held wealth and force you to use banks or invest.
What will never happen is hyperinflation. That would remove debt slavery. If everyone can pay off their student loans and mortgage with two paychecks from McDonalds, then the system loses it's ability to seize property and garnish your wages.

You're 100% wrong. There won't be any cash AT ALL. Having cash as an option defeats the main purpose of a CBDC, which is total control via the removal of anonymous transactions and ability to save money outside of the system.

>>56123630
If they implement the CBDC in time, there won't be any hyperinflation. Then they can just take whatever money they want from your account, they don't have to garnish wages or whatever. It will be exactly like last time. They took the gold and left the silver. Then they took the silver. Cash is such a small part of the economy that they can afford to leave it. The value of the Fed coin cbdc will be measured in dollars. No one will notice the change. They turned an ounce of silver into a piece of paper. They turned a piece of paper into a digital ledger entry. This has already happened twice. The next one is just changing bank ledger money into federal server money. It's the least noticable and the infrastructure is already in place. You really don't get it. It's always been a scam at every level INCLUDING PMs! Kek, if you were the based Eggfag-antagonist I recall I think you broke him down and got him to agree to trade 12 of his gay eggs for a generic or Asahi round, with him coping by generously offering to sell 13 of his retarded LARP eggs for one of the precious ASEs he so fetishizes and covets.
Eggnig ASEfag would be gorging on a bottomless buffet of crow-flavored humble pie if he weren't such a coward, funny how he disappeared for months right after ASE premiums fell off a cliff and he only returned when anons started talking about the frensmark again. It's repulsively pathetic and means that he has been lurking in shame since this Spring; the only halfway wise choice he ever made in his life, but he just couldn't resist oozing back above the surface to broadcast his cringe obsession with an unremarkable memecoin concept when it became an active topic among actually decent anons again. I believe 0hedge made an article earlier this week 'splaining nippons are in a PM buying frenzy as the JPY is crattering against everything else.
And the situation isn't likely to get any better for the poor japs, since the BoJ went full autistic and refuse (or can't) raise rates. They are the only central bank in the world still stuck at ZIRP. Actually, it's even worse than that : they still have negative interest rates (-0.10% iirc).

Set a ratio, say 1 part gold, one part silver, measured in €.

Now, if gold prices drop, but silver doesn't, i would buy gold to get my ratio back. If silver drops i buy silver to get the ratio back.

I don't know anything about it, but it would be interesting to see the regulations/taxation concerning PMs in Nihon. Because if the flight toward gold (and silver to a lesser extend) is getting a bit too high for BoJ's liking, they will most likely bake additional taxes over the purchase of PMs in the coming months. Taxing the farmers by taking some of their harvest has been a thing for millennia. The government needs it to feed their soldiers. Meanwhile silver currency existed in parallel for the longest time. I guess you might argue that taxing using silver is more efficient than stealing crops, but that's not why people originally started using it, while the only point of fiat paper money is to rob the population of resources, right from the beginning. Big difference.

>while the only point of fiat paper money is to rob the population of resources, right from the beginning
This is true. As soon as the bank of England was established in the 1600s they began to go to war with France, Spain and Russia with the explicit intent of bankrupting their nations. England could borrow their money into existence and the banking cartel were waiting in the wings ready to begin lending to these nations for the war effort. America refused to renew the first central bank charter and England went to war with America in 1812. And right after the Fed was created a major war broke out that was so expensive it literally bankrupted the entire world.
Bankers are scum and ought to be treated as among the greatest threats to humanity.

American Silver Eagles are 1 oz of fine silver, selling from the US Mint for 100 bucks and up.
I'd say that was one HELL of a premium, myself. Sadly a premium paid to the US Government, and not one you can USUALLY cash in on. I bought some ASE in an auction for 21 to 35 dollars a pop. Granted, that's still a premium, to the dealers, over spot.

Seems like there is a misunderstanding bucko. The US Mint always sell for the same premium, which is spot +3-4%. But they only sell to a list of approved (5000 iirc) participants, who all are bullion dealers with clean records and get rewarded limited allocations each year. And that's those (((dealers))) who add the insane premium, knowing the demand far outpace the offer. They pocket literally 100% of the markup, the US Mint didn't generate more cash in 2021 than in 2016 per oz. Or just a tiny fraction due to the spot spread in %, but they are supervized by the treasury, they can't start to scalp the american public for the lulz....

Those are the bright uncirculated.

Anyone can buy a very limited number of such coins from the mint, but they sell out within days. An Anon here informed us back in June as soon as they were offered (thank you!), and I got one pair of reverse proofs as a set: one Morgan, one Peace, for $185 (pic related). There was a limit of 5 per household at the time for those. A "subscription" just means creating a login for the US Mint site. Then the Mint started sending tons of announcements. I unsubscribed and it stopped.

It's nice to have some gold. But realistically you have a grand opportunity to massively increase your wealth by focusing on silver. Here are some relevant facts to consider.
In U.S. history the Dow:Gold ration has reached 1:1 TWICE.
Historical silver:gold ratio is closer to 16:1.
Mining output is closer to 8:1.
Currently the GSR is 82:1.
By buying up silver at this historically cheap price you can eventually swap it for MORE gold than you could by chasing gold.
That is also not taking into consideration future demand from investors who will need to hide from inflation AS WELL as industry needing to secure the metal for production. If inflation runs rampant the physical supply will not be able to contain it and industry will be forced to price investors out. There is even a non-zero chance that silver could significantly revalue relative to gold for this very reason. The globe needs $1BN ounces of silver per year and we produce $800M ounces. That is not even enough for every American to have 3 ounces. That is not enough to give like 3 GRAMS to every person of Earth. The supply is about as tight as can be and even increase in price the mining industry has little in the way of being able to ramp up production quickly as many of silver we have comes from copper, zinc, and gold mines. Very few pure silver mines exist on earth the ones that do are uneconomical to develop and getting mines online for production can take close to a decade to begin production.
I own some gold only because of the monetary implications could be interesting. The fundamental case for silver will win every time though due to arbitrage.

Do not be distraught at the size of COMEX contracts. They are designed to be prohibitive to retail and mostly used for hedging and industry. You know how you can buy 1oz coins, kilos, 100oz bars with relative exactness? Well COMEX bars are imprecise and this actually allows the COMEX to demand an even HIGHER level of margin to accomodate the differential. Your bar may be 995 pounds of 1012. And because of that variance they price it in to controlling the contract as an extra level of deterrence.
Do not be dismayed. Back in Weimar there were exchange students slurping up entire city blocks with their gold backed dollars in the complete absence of stable currency. A few gold coins in that environment put you on a whole new level. I don't think things will get that bad here in Weimerica, but who the hell knows.

I honestly believe the reason people buy silver is purely because people like the idea of having a lot of something, even if gold is a more viable option. (For bongs atleast.)
People in the uk would prefer to buy silver that has VAT and capital gains tax over gold which doesnt have these restrictions all because the number of coins they would own is larger.

To add to this, the nature of capitalism demands cheap labor as all capital is attempting to earn a return for its investors. In this environment, if you do not have a very honed and technical skill, your labor will be worth little to nothing.
The most important thing to remember is the markets create a relative value that gives you the opportunity to move between things that are cheap and expensive to accumulate wealth. Buying things that are cheap and selling them when they are expensive seems like a simple concept, and it is. You just have to be able to do it consistently. Despite the massive amounts of suppression undergoing silver, all of the fundamentals point towards it being undervalued and likely due for a massive increase in price as above ground stocks are depleted in this high inflation environment. You honestly do not need to worry too much about your net worth in terms of dollars if you are younger and can wait for this correction to happen. Once the bond market implodes and the purchasing power of bank credit is not accepted to render goods and services your tangible wealth will be shining bright.

The most important thing people need to realize about monetary systems is they are multigenerational. No one alive has seen an entire cycle so aside from books and intellectuals interested in the subject you would likely be led to believe that everything will work out fine. At its heart the economy has been ruined because we stopped investing in infrastructure and manufacturing and tried to outsource it while we sold hamburgers to each other. Once people spent all their money and maxed out their credit cards we have little if anything to fall back on. Those people with jobs will stop consuming services and the whole thing can implode with only those capital intensive industries producing real goods will be left standing to keep us from starving.
There is no getting away from it. The economy at its heart is nothing more than land, labor, production, energy and mining. 100% of EVERYTHING we have and need to survive stems from those 5 things. We have luxury and services and all this extra shit because people are doing PRODUCTIVE WORK with the base-line resources we produce.
No amount of trickery coming out of banks, accounting or finance can avoid this.

I think we are rapidly approaching a fundamental revaluation in commodities that will not occur until losses in the bond market and banking system manifest themselves and that exact revaluation will be the reckoning of the bond market as everyone holding dollars will be instantly impoverished. He's kind of right though. Semantics. Capitalism strives for profit, and three ways to do that are volume of sales, wages, and prices. Public companies are obligated to make a profit and maintain or increase share value - it's the promise made to buyers.
The point about profit from low wages is what the UAW strike is about now. Record profits, execs get higher wages, but line workers get none of that and have given up benefits to help keep the companies afloat during times when they needed bailout.

God speed school Anon. Are you also working a part time job while in school? I did when I went to college and managed to pay off loans extremely quickly because it kept costs down. I wish I knew about donating plasma back then because I would have probably not needed loans if I did that too. But needles and blood isn't for everyone.

Why not just take that $ and go buy a 100:1 GSR? This is /pmg/ remember?

Hell ya. My wife just asked if she could have a 1/4oz round for jewelry or something after asking to look at the sizes of my stash, and now I'm wishing I would've added one to my order rather than ruin my perfect 5oz tube of them lol. I already gave her a couple 1/10 ozers for whatever. I guess it's a sign that I should put another order in tomorrow after the kikes squash silver prices again (like they seem to do every Monday).

I'm simply saying, from a 1 oz = 25 to 30 dollar for a round price, a 185 dollar subscription sounds like a hell of a lot of markup, compared to 60 dollars for two silver rounds that "aren't US currency" at a factious 1 dollar per coin.
The silver didn't magically become more valuable.

My medieval silber collection start to look like something frens, just reached 30 coins.
It's the most random collection ever though, since the theme is just "buying unidentified-listed coins on ebay for way below their value".

But it matches a saying i love

yeah the markup is huge, but at least those in particular retain value. it's just not worth getting ase's direct at such ridiculous prices

One can dream I guess. The truth is that the people genuinely running shit aren't concerned about a few people getting ahead inadvertently. They already have transition plans (hell, the ones we know about publicly are meeting to discuss those plans tomorrow and Tuesday). If it were as simple as buying x or y and becoming a property baron overnight, that's not the sort of info any of us commoners would be privy to. I look at pms as money, for transactions between other people. It's not subject to the deflation of any particular fiat currency. If that fact isn't enough for some people, then so be it, but I don't have any thoughts that a 100ish oz of silver will make me a lord in 5 years lol. I'd be pretty happy buying a dozen healthy egg laying chicks and a bag of feed for a bit of pms if it went all road warrior style.

*PMs are not subject to the Inflation of fiat. I think people like cliff are promoting a false sense of security. I hope they're right but, history doesn't agree. A flagon of rice will go up dramatically after a currency crash, but if it was $2.50 before a currency crash, then 1/10 of silver later will still buy it after. It's true because there are and will always be a demand for PMs, even if it's a black market under an oppressive regime. Paper is just paper.
