The direct registered shares would get any equity issuance first so there's value there for that but there's no reason someone couldn't hold shares with a large reputable broker and just wait until they got that issuance there to either hold or sell for profit or buy more of it on the market and direct register the lot of it after the fact. Lolno there's nowhere near enough that would be issued to match the number of shares held, there's billions in existence on all books when there should be at most a little less than 750 million and potentially as little as ~350 million. That's why the price would rip. The reputable big brokers aren't taking chances and have their customers shares, they will get the equity issuance they're owed, they just get it after the direct registered shareholders do. After that any broker holding a fake share on their books with nothing to show for it is heemed and would either force close positions before that equity issuance to avoid this entirely or they'd give the customer a share of the equity issuance on their books and would either pay that person whatever they sold it for out of their own pocket or force liquidate it and pay them what it was worth when they liquidated the position on their books.
