When I was younger I used to throw weed seeds in this one area that we walked past by the school, and eventually it was a running joke with my friends to throw seeds there. Sure enough one spring we walk past there and there's dotted weed plants all through it
Wonder if anyone ever figured it out or if they are still over there growing in yearly cycles like any other plants lol

One ingenious scheme I came up with was to glue them to monkey nuts with flour paste since we had squirrels that'd turn up constantly for them and then take off to bury them.
