The consoomer has never mattered. This market serves as a way for the big investors (people with actual money that actually matter on this planet) know that the market is the best way to hedge against inflation...

I was being a bit extreme. Of course the consoomer matters but unless there is a massive recession or a 2008 type event, peoples' spending habits won't really change all that much. Sure, the lower classes which are far more affected (negatively) by inflation/high rates could get fugged but the middle classes and above are enjoying a nice wage growth and low mortgages (due to ez re-financing during Covid) so they won't really care. I can't see consoooming habits drastically changing in the US (in some parts of EU though... that's another story)
>>56102619
The OMX is straight up retarded. Since inflation came in cooler than expected today, news are cropping up all over Sweden that the central bank is done raising rates and whatever. Sure sure let's just bomb the currency even harder. Every part of the inflation besides electricity prices is still massively up. Electricity has historically been cheap here but since they decided to export expensive electricity last year to make use of the dire situation in the electricity market last year, they left us with extremely expensive electricity. Just what in fegg even is this market?
It's a good time to come to visit though since the currency has gone down the drain and continues on its downward trajectory.

The american house of cards will unwind soon enough. More and more people are hitting the point where they become net withdrawers.

Here's an interesting statistic. During the covid crash Vanguard reported that only 1% of their total fund allocation was withdrawn. Imagine what will happen when that number hits 5% or 10% during the next decade as more and more boomers retire.

People outside the US don't have that stock investment culture yet drilled into their heads. Literally no one invests in stocks in EM and a few in Developed Ex-US. In US line go up because millions flow in every month from boomers who auto-allocate to index funds. It's literally a ticking time bomb. When the index gravy train stops you will have sell pressure higher than 1929.

By contrast EM and EU are trading at their cheapest historical levels and have nowhere to go but up.

I sure as fuck wouldn't want to be holding a market cap weight of 60%+ in US for the next 10 years.

US PE ratios are slightly higher than Europe's while having more solid growth. There is not a real disparity like in the Japanese stock bubble. Also US companies have basically ATH cash holdings. Companies like Google or Apple are just sitting on billions of USD and they are ready to spend them on buybacks if there is a serious stock drop

The Euro is a stable currency and currently fossil fuel prices have stabalized with gas prices going practically to pre war levels. Most people ignore how economically advanced some European countries are because most of Europe's wealth is concentrated in small specialized companies rather than megacorps like in the US. Germany's economic has slowed down as manufacturing is going through a slump due excess stock holdings due the COVID supply shock. Once things regularize, expect a small cap European boom

Holy crap oil won't stop pumping. Gasoline is also keeping up. Electricity prices are going back up. For some reason ("some"), the electricity prices were incredibly cheap this summer, dragging the inflation down across whole of Europe.

If we look at the last couple of days

The market seems to be green in futures, then when it actually opens it suddenly crabs downwards, then at the end of the day it crabs up a little, then it's green in futures again.

The iconic German sandal and clog maker Birkenstock, beloved of free spirits and pragmatists alike, is going public with plans to list on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “BIRK.”

The company filed its IPO documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, but it has not yet offered any details on size or price range.

But the deal will be underwritten by a team of 19 banks, led by Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley, suggesting it will be a substantial one.

expiry tomorrow
we've told you for almost 2 weeks that we were going to be pinned at 4500 until tomorrow, that it was not a good idea to be buying puts - that selling $440 puts was free money
you didn't listen (you never listen)
take this as a lesson in your trading career, that if we are approaching the most important option expiry of the year (3rd quarter triple witching) and there are trillions of dollars on the line, the market will remain pinned and will not fall through, with a good 95%+ probability
use their mechanics against them - if you see
>pic related
then sell $440 puts and get free money - take advantage of their positioning to boost your portfolio, do what they are doing
don't try and inverse them and buy puts and short the market
you wait until after the expiry, THEN you open your shorts

The stock market and economy are connected and related, but not the same thing. There are many examples of stocks/economy moving in opposite directions. The reality is that few can predict the market direction on a given day consistently, therefore you just buy an index. It’s boring, but it’s lower stress and has a much higher rate of long-term success.
