They are buying groceries with credit cards. Next year is going to get very ugly but probably there will be a war to cover it all up.

I’ve been prepping my meals since 2013. Cost between $50-$100 a week. It’s boring but I’m fit and rich.

Burgers are weird , they eat so much shit and overpay for it as well.

Every week I buy 5 whole Chickens (about 25 quid) and 1 Duck (9 quid) and 1kg of beef cubes or a beef joint (10-15 quid) , 60 quid a week on fruit (pomegranate, mango, strawberries) veggies and rest (flour, spices , milk , tea , coffee, ect), and a tenner for 2 bottles of red wine for cooking.
Spending about 120 quid a week on food in total, so that's like 150$ a week on food. Once every 4 weeks spend about 200 quid instead of 120, when I buy extra things. That's like 700$ a month to feed 2 people in UK.

Most of the time it takes 10 minutes to prep a meal and 90 minutes waiting to switch the oven off (got an WIFI oven which is handy). Love the Assam duck recipe.

i mean most normal people are spending likely around 700 a month on food in the us too. i eat pretty extravagantly as a single person (Michelin star restaurants and trips to nyc etc. as well as expensive alcohol at bars) and i only spend 750-1.5k a month. most of it is dining at restaurants. grocery stores are really not that expensive here though they have been going up as of late. difference is i never eat at places like applebees or mcdonalds. they are charging like $15 usd for combos these days which i cannot believe people pay. i have eaten at taco bell occasionally but i get the $5 cravings boxes if i do (like literally 2 times in the 9 months of this year, when i was drunk)

I live in a shitty part of central California. Farms everywhere. You’d think produce and locally grown might mean a cost savings. Not the case. My wife and I cook all of our meals and let me tell ya fren, $200 worth of groceries wouldn’t last 3 days. If we want NY Strips or Ribeyes add about $40 to that’s.
It’s not that some of us aren’t trying . Everything is just so expensive now.
I had Wendy’s 2 months ago.
2 combos, a Chili 10 piece nuggets.
$38…..c’mon now. That’s just crazy. Some spots are price gouging with inflation as it excuses.

what sucks is that even people who are responsible and cook all their own food are still having to pay a lot for groceries.
The most expensive steak I ever bought was 10 years ago at a high end grocery store. It was ribeye $23/lb.
Today ribeye at walmart is $15 to $20/lb.

As soon as the Covid bullshit hit I knew what was coming and stocked up on an enormous amount of non perishable food, started a garden and shored up on basic survival tools. I'll run out eventually but I'm going to build my own hydroponics rig for growing in the winter and hopefully expand my operation enough to be able sell produce to people in the community. I also want to build a still so I can make my own alcohol and am looking into small alcohol engines now as a emergency source of power.
