I've gotten two promotions over the years at my current company, yet I've come to the realization that I now make less money than I did when I started.
I'm not even talking in terms of inflation, I was making close to $90k before taxes, yet now I'm making around 40% less. Should I just stop working overtime, I don't really know what else to do with my time other than work.

I got fired when I brought this fact up during a company meeting when they told us they were expanding our departments responsibilities by 50%. I asked them if why we should do more work if we were all getting paid much less than we were 5 years ago due to raises that didn't keep up with inflation.

Fucking sucks, feels like I'm being punished for wanting to work.

OP this doesn't make any sense. When you started you were making 90k per year, and now you are making 40% less than that, so now you're only making 54k per year? Am I understanding you correctly. You got two promotions and a 40% pay cut? This doesn't make any sense to me, please explain

Okay, I'll bite:
If inflation over the last years was 50% and OP was making 90k before that, then he should be making at least 135k to cover up the loss of purchasing power.

It's simple really, I'm on salary now and don't get paid overtime.

Then why did you take the promotion ya dumb nigger

It was either take the promotion or find a new job, which would probably mean moving out of my location/state. That's pretty much the ultimatum I was given.

What country are you from? Guessing English isn't your first language. You should've mentioned that you are working more hours now than you used to in your OP. Because you didn't mention that relevant fact, your OP really didn't make any sense.

So, what you're saying is you got a promotion, which entailed working more hours, but your salary stayed exactly the same? That's fucked OP, you should leave
