Trades are okay in my view. Most of the time you're outside or on a work site somewhere with fresh air and good weather (where I live). Tradies get paid very well in my cunt too. I'm actually hoping to land an apprenticeship myself soon.

Warehouses keep you fit and often have tons of other departments you can move to so you can get out of the ground floor shit jobs like loading and unloading by hand.
Can you drive a forklift?
That puts you above the margin of terrible shit by about half.
Some of the people in warehouses are overworked to death, and some listen to podcasts and drive around all day. Your choice.

It depends on what you do. Yeah, if you're a brickie or a carpenter framing houses all day you're gonna have a rough time and your body's gonna be like "peace out" by about 35. A electrician will be fine, as will an industrial gas fitter. Like any other career you just need to put some thought into how it's going to pan out long term.

Also consider that sitting in an office all day with poor posture in a job that's largely sedentary will leave you pretty unhealthy by 35 as well, if you're not actively exercising.

Security used to be decent, until I got promoted to middle management. Now I'm responsible for 10 other guards. It's also a job where you worry about what crazy shit is going to happen when there's nothing happening. As a regular guard, I didn't have to make the decisions, now as a supervisor I have to be the first responder every time.

If you end up "facing" (organizing everything in the isles so items are pulled forward, neatly stacked, etc.), that is meditative and a pleasure for autist sorting enjoyment. And if instead you are doing early morning pre-open stocking, then that is simply unpacking larger boxes onto shelves, just after the sun rises, in an empty store.

Never worked register and never wanted to. Grocery floor work, very chill, though.

Trail maintenance with the USFS, BLM, etc. also seems like it would be fun.

Also, dog walking was very chill, too.
