heya lads
as a developing worlder, I was offered a lucrative loan from a bank for something and even though I needed way less, I took out the max amount :) as I can deal with the instalments with inflation and currency depletion on the horizon

I usually invest in my own markets and have 7k in NASDAQ, 3-3-1, Amazon, Berkshire and Fiverr, and I'll invest like another 7k now
I'll have to liq in 6-8 months for downpayment of a house, so I'm looking for more blue chips to invest in, should I also try American Express? I feel like we can see a rate cut in March 24, that'll give AMEX a nice boost before I liq it right?

aiming for a 4-4-4-2 with amex as the fourth NASDAQ and dividing 3k to the others, what do you lads think?

Yeah I understand yield to maturity, I’m wondering why it doesn’t pay out a better yield right now. Best I can figure out, they’re probably leveraging CME futures, and I bet they don’t pay any coupon on those, so the question remains if the coupon is implied in the price. If they’re rolling contracts though we may never see those coupon payments. Reading CME website now and will report back.

Europe isn't going to collapse, it's going to settle into long-term stagnation as it's unable to innovate its economy further and Eastern European countries reach their maximal economic potential relative to the Western ones.
America isn't going to collapse, it's going to keep chugging along at roughly 2% - 3% growth per year as it faces continuing social issues like it always has.

None of the Big 3 are going to collapse, at worst they're just facing stagnation. Being an internet doomer doesn't make you cool. Canada's looking like it might be kind of fucked though no joke.

Yes I get yield to maturity. If bond prices go down to $90, the fund should now have a cash yield of 22% of your principal. Due to the assets used to leverage the return however, any yield on the underlying is rolled in with principal drawdown.

This is as compared to if the fund borrowed money short term to buy physical treasuries on credit, in which case we would expect to see our total return and principal drop, but we would expect to see our yield go up, assuming of course it was gross and not net of borrowing costs

In order to earn enough dividends to earn one share worth of reinvestment you would need to have $280 worth of dividend payments each quarter which would equate to roughly 50 shares which is $14000. $14k worth of stock to earn one share each quarter. I think you misread, I never said "premium decrease" or "principal drawdown of bonds will bring the funds yield lower".

Hopped on my laptop to type this for ya :-)
I'll break it down:
"Because the premium for the leverage plus the decrease in principal from rising yields plus fund fee outweighs the coupon profit calculated into the previous premium pricing"

The premium is what they are paying to afford the derivative contracts: simply put the cost of purchasing the desired derivative on top of the intrinsic value of the derivative, like an insurance, which can increase and decrease based on volatility of rate expectations.
+
The decrease in principal is simply the result of rate hikes, I'm sure you know how that works: yield up, principal down.
+
fund fee is what they are charging to do all this, simple as

all that outweighs the following:
"the coupon profit calculated into the previous premium pricing"

This one's a little bit more difficult and has to do with the way these premiums are priced:
Back a few years ago, we were in less volatile times and premiums were cheap. The fund bought these derivatives and became owner of those premiums. They can also charge it upon sale, I know they hold to maturity but this is not how they are marked. These premium prices have increased and the fund marks these premium prices into the return of the fund. This is why the fund is going down, the premium profit does not outweigh the previously stated changes.

note before reading the following: yield is NOT the same as coupon and you're consistently mixing them up
There are 2 ways to answer your question depending on your confusion:
1. The coupon (you're referring to this as yield) is not higher because the fund uses the weighted average over all 20 years and we're only a short time into increased yields
2. When I get a $100 bond at $10 coupon I will have a yield of 10%; When I have $100 and get $300 worth of bonds (3 bonds) at 10% each, my yield will still be 10%

Yes that’s the borrowing cost, they pay a fixed rate and in return receive the “premium”/total return on the iShares 20+ year treasury index. Yes we agree that they receive less money because borrowing costs are higher

> 1. The coupon (you're referring to this as yield) is not higher because the fund uses the weighted average over all 20 years and we're only a short time into increased yields
If I’m understanding correct you’re trying to say I’m wrong and the coupon is what a fund pays out in cash, which is just incorrect cash payments relative to principal invested are called yield, coupons are fixed payments on a bond. cash payments are marked as the yield relative the funds principal. It doesn’t matter if the yield is on the WAM of their portfolio, if the WAM is 20 years they mark the bonds to market and pay out the same fixed coupon then yield has gone up

> 2. When I get a $100 bond at $10 coupon I will have a yield of 10%; When I have $100 and get $300 worth of bonds (3 bonds) at 10% each, my yield will still be 10%
Your coupon will be 10% on a notional $300 of bonds, your yield on cash invested will be 30%, again assuming net of borrowing costs

You’re incorrect. There’s not much else to say, you’re holding yourself out as knowledgable but fucking up simple math.

What happens is, the drug fucks with your hormones. So that you are in a caloric deficit. Eating with a caloric deficit makes you lose muscle, because your body is starving and dissolving your muscles for fuel.
The only way to prevent that is going into ketosis, so your body can burn fat.
You go into ketosis by not eating anything or by eating very low carb.
If you eat garbage food and take the drug you will lose muscle.
Modern medicine is a fucking joke.

Go ask the normie women in your life if they know that people who take ozempic lose so much muscle and connective tissue, that this is the weight they are losing, not fat, that people who take ozempic are gaining fat, just that the amount of muscle and connective tissue loss is so massive that it overcomes the amount of fat that you gain, literally 1 out of 10 will know this
if you were to ask doctors, I wouldn't even put it at 8 out of 10 knowing (where you'd expect 10/10 to know)
it isn't a big secret, in that it's not kept a secret hush hush, but it's "secretive" in that the knowledge is not wide known - now it has been broadcasted on the most popular podcast in the world, where millions of people will hear it, and share it with people they know - the knowledge will ripple

He said that although we all know each other well it might make future people uncomfortable, and that it started to look like an "obsession". I think I got away with it for a while because I disclosed to them that I'm ADHD and on the autistic spectrum, financially speaking. There are tonnes of weight loss drugs and they're all dubious. No one is going to get rich because weight loss drugs suddenly don't work and you shorted the company that makes them.

I'm 33, been on 4chan since the mid-2000s, and as I get older I start trying to be more real and authentic, testing the waters with certain people on what I can get away with. I can always play it off as "oh I saw it on Reddit" like a normie. Half the guys lurk 4chan from time to time (I've learned from happy hours or bar hopping on business trips). My main team lead doesn't really mind NSFW references and everyone seems to laugh at them. I kind of like that about our company culture. It's like we all give laugh emotes at a post without admitting that we understand the reference.

Its how the body works. A caloric deficit makes you lose muscle, because the body needs fuel from somewhere.

Many people are worse off than before.

>Ozempic may be the miracle of the moment, but no one knows what is down the track because there is no long-term data for this drug when used for weight loss, and managing fat chemically can have implications for whole body health.

>together with fat tissue – lean muscle tissue is shed too, and it’s important for metabolic function, not only during exercise, but also at rest.

>On stopping the drug, many people regain weight in the form of fat. This leaves them with net muscle loss.

>While they are lighter than they were initially, they have a higher percentage of body fat. Paradoxically, they are lighter but fatter.

>This gives rise to the next concern – an increased risk of sarcopenia, a disorder characterised by a fast deterioration of muscle mass that affects metabolic rate and general function.

not if you have fat. thats literally what fat is for. werent you the one discussing fasting?
>the rest of your quotes
ultimately the people taking these drugs have a problem so bad that they are seeking medication. they care more about losing weight than anything else. Losing muscle is also losing weight to them anon. im sorry but the short thesis is shit.

They arent fasting. Thats the point of the drug. And if they arent eating Keto then they arent accessing their fat stores properly. Thus their bodies will lose muscle.

I was talking about your general statement about caloric deficiencies there, not the case of typical people taking Ozempic.
Ozempic doesnt work by trying to get you into a caloric deficit, its more hormonal which obviously will have side effects.
ultimately im not arguing with you about its health deficiencies or comparisons, im arguing that americans simply dont care. Or rather, they care more about its benefits.
case and point: look at the vast list of prescription drugs with worse side effects - like fucking suicidal thoughts and shit. Still approved, still used.

When I say fasting, I mean not eating anything. Real fasting. not eating in a caloric deficit.
With real fasting the body will switch into Ketosis and slurp up your body fat to survive.
It then actually spares your muscles.

>Ozempic doesnt work by trying to get you into a caloric deficit
Thats exactly what it does. It makes you lose appetite, it makes you feel ful, even if you arent.
You eat less and are thus in a caloric deficit, where you constantly lose muscle.

We live in a clown world, which includes this clown market. We will rally to new highs, and it will be due to Biden and his buddies backing the globohomo agenda. The Democrats will use this as a talking point for the 2024 election, and the American population will listen and be brainwashed. Even though they won't see much of the money going to them, they will still see it as a positive.
