my sister had a perfectly functional car that was almost paid off that she threw away for a shiny new car that costs 1/4 of her monthly salary

>> No.55965457

I always look up semi-expensive cars to see how much debt the "owner" is carrying on it, 7 times out of 10, they are carrying huge amounts of debt on them. I am seriously amazed how common and normalized it has become to carry around 50k in car debt, well duh its a car, they have to be expensive, right?
Its truly fascinating the mental gymnastics on display when people justify spending so much money on a product that essentially only has one function, unless youre specializing into something like pulling a boat, most people can do perfectly fine spending 1/5th of what they were planning on a car if they werent so fucking proud. Amazing what average people are willing to pay in order to look well off.

ive had 2 car loans in my life. both were $200/month for 5 years, one at like 2% interest and another at like 6% interest. i make $100k/year and hated having a car loan. absolutely blows my mind to see $60k/year normalniggers with $400-600/month car payments, especially normalniggers with bad credit whose loans are 10%+.

Would a $50k be worth it if it was made of quality and safety. Meaning it will last over 20 years and protect in the event of a collision?

200 bucks a month is absurdly little in car payments. Thats what I am paying for mine right now. I am from Denmark where the state adds a 125% tax on the price of ALL cars. If you want to finance a Tesla Y model here, you're looking at 1000$ per month in car payments. And thats from wages that are already taxed at 43%. Do people here still finance Tesla Y models? You bet they do.

Absolutely unbefuckinglievable

im 29 years old, make 150k a year, and have been driving the same 04 toyota corolla since my senior year of high school.
its completely beat to shit and I'm surprised it still runs with virtually 0 issues despite all the abuse and neglect I've given it.
the only reason i dont get a new car is because it still works fine but the thought of having to barter, go through paperwork and dmv bs gives me a dreadful feeling

That market is so heavily regulated that its almost impossible to pull off. You'd need an address in Germany to avoid the 125% tax bottom line, otherwise your car has to fuck off out of the country for 195 days of the year if you dont want to get fucked by our government.

I know you're just fucking around, but to be serious, but we're on 3 weeks of record weekly declines at wholesale for almost-new but still used cars.
Banks that control the auctions must have figured out how to short the market or protect themselves somehow. It's coming.

50% of the price of gas here is from taxes. A gallon costs around 9 dollars. Insurance is also way more expensive due to our 25% universal VAT. All in all, buying a car here is just the dumbest thing you can possibly do really. A silver lining is that our housing is still very affordable outside the major urban areas, but of course not if you're dragging around 1500$ of car payments per month lol

>>55966028

I've flipped construction materials for good gains before. But it's not consistent enough to write it off. I'm slightly retarded but once I started driving a pickup I can't go back. What justified this one for me is its a Tundra, and my Camry was absolutely bulletproof so this will last
