What would happen if I replaced browsing this place with reading books? Probably text books and philosophy because fiction sucks.
I'm not worried about missing ranjeets next gem, but I worry I'll lose touch with current events especially if the mainstream narrative is the only opinion I'm exposed to.

Books are for Jewish brainwashing and outdated information. Any information found in books is already part of market equilibrium. Zero alpha. You're a doomed pleb poor guy for even entertaining books.

This is the only reason why I still use 4chan. I can get information quick and not just from one source
Other image boards are smaller and everyone has the same political opinion

This. You'd be stunned by the pretenses of intelligentsia even as recently as the 2000s. The fact is, very few people know what's what, and the only way to figure it out is to experience it firsthand in the moment and draw your own conclusions. Having intellectual and philosophical frameworks helps, but it's not like any philosopher could've possibly provided knowledge about how to handle the internet, or ecological disaster, or even something as modern as the telephone. These are things fundamental to our lives, but fundamentally untouched by any "accepted" philosophers. You'll only find reasonable discussion about culture in culture.

I got into reading again at the start of the year, I was reading long-form content regularly and my focus was improving greatly. It was also good not to be exposed so much to wankers on 4chan.

Then I left my kindle on a plane and now I'm back to full-on internet addiction with no focus to speak of. I should just drop the money and buy a new kindle (if I remember to)

May be but most of what I see on the innanet is just normalfags grandstanding.
Lets say I hammer out the market fundamentals reading a few books then I don't need to interact with anybody, just check the charts.

That sucks anon, get another or just hit the library, I haven't been able to give up paper books even though kindle seems nice (doesn't fuck your eyes like a smartphone does).

kindle is very handy because of how easy book piracy is. you can download them from a bunch of different sites and load them onto the kindle with some software called Calibre.

/sci/ has good book recommendations. I found it was easier to go math -> philosophy than the other way around.

This is utterly bullshit. There is so much information that is lost in books that if you read, you will get your head blown. Even if it's not lost, it is "cancelled" INTO OBLIVION because current media and propaganda DO NOT want you to read about it. Think about it. Have you ever heard about the book "Expedient Homemade Firearms" from P.A Luty? It's a manual on making a 9mm submachine gun (in minecraft of course), using only available hardware. It's not only functional, but can be automatic and shoot over 20 rounds. Read only the preface. The rest are instructions. Very good manual.

What about, "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind"? In "academia' he is viewed as a pseud, but his arguments are valid in a lot of instances. "The Archetype and Colective Unconscious"?

Stop being illiterate and go do some reading. And read properly. Checkout "How to read a Book" from Mortimer Adler. It's not a good book per se, but good for getting to read some good shit later. And CHECK HIS FUCKING LIST OF GREAT BOOKS FOR FUCKS SAKE, READ THEM ALL.

>muh books
I'm tired of this meme that reading books makes you some kind of more intelligent person. 99.999% of serial book readers are just skimming their books. They don't do any kind of critical thinking or analysis of what they're reading. They just have words in their head and then add it to a list of books they've read that they can spout off to other pseudointellectuals as a form of dick measuring. Your average person that just reads 4chan is probably more self aware and has slightly more self awareness than people who chronically read books just to say they're reading books. Poojeets love to read hundreds of books and can't tell you a single thing about any of them

Pro tip: search for local classifieds for free sets of encyclopedias, pick up a set issued before 1985 when they began to memory-hole information. To be doubly sure look up anything about race/IQ.
