2 year notes at 5.035% offer the best risk/reward of any asset right now:
>inflation resurgence
The coupon payments make up for any loss in the value of the note. Duration is low enough and yields high enough that you can't lose money

You get the coupon payments and the note increases in value as yields go down

Bonds- If the rate goes low then those bonds aren't competitive (They could just put it in spy and get 7-9%), If you are a big dick and you've bought bonds in 2019, you got fucked since then you've probably took a shitty deal to get some liquidity.

DXY- Goes up- Money is valuable: You can buy more stuff with the same amount of dollar (dxy)
Goes down- Money is less valuable, Takes more if it to buy what you could have if it hadn't have dipped.

With the ETF expense ratio in mind the yield difference between bills and 2 year notes isn't much. I'd rather lock in 5%+ for 2 years. If yields go a bit higher I won't lose much because of the duration, and if yields go lower I can sell my notes for a nice gain

So using it as an indicator
:

DXY example

If you thought this looked "Toppy" you may start to average in some longs on your favorite stock(s) or indices, because when it dips money is literally worth less so it takes more monies to equal the value you had the previous day, week, etc.
I generally only play 1-3 tickers (FDs) because I don't like exposure on my fdport.

Inversely if it looked bullish (dxy) you'd know things are going to dip because it will take more monies (dxy) to purchase things.

Be advised I'm a retard and you read this at your own peril.

What does everyone think of this ETF portfolio with tilt to value and small cap?

VWRL - Global Market - 50%
IWVL - Developed Market Value - 26%
EMVL - Emerging Market Value - 4%
USSC - US Small Cap Value - 20%

Changes relative to 100% VWRL
20% small cap tilt
50% value tilt

Region breakdown would be
58% US
33% Developed Market
9% Emerging Market

As soon as interest rates start dropping again it is guaranteed profit, or even if the economy crashes my money will be safer than in cash or stocks regardless. This is a perfect time to transition to bonds, it's a win-win scenario whether the market crashes or not.

Lol. Recent news out of China is that we are going into a massive global recession. If China is the exporter, and China's exports are falling 10% every month, what do you think is happening to other nations imports?
In past years, Chinese growth, Chinese demand, Chinese economy has pulled the rest of the world out of economic stagnation or recession(s)
Why do you think we rallied at the beginning of 2023?? Expectations of China reopening and ending zero covid policy.
Now we are getting the exact opposite. China will drag down the whole world - EU is already in a recession, China now too
>Oh, but the US will be totally unscathed!! Invest in US equities!!

They won't miss revenue / EPS (probably) - they'll be within very tight range of both
What they will miss, and what market currently doesn't understand (fully) is that these orders are an anomaly, they are centered around several Chinese tech companies who placed these large billion $ orders so that they could still get NVDA chips before they are banned by the US government from doing so
It's not "Oh, we'll keep selling this number of chips every quarter, to Chinese buyers!"
It's "This was a one time thing, they ordered as much as they possibly could, so that the government would be less likely to fuck the order up, and thus fuck up NVDa finances"
future guidance will reflect this, and the stock will fall sharply - it may not be immediate, good chances that they keep it as flat as possible to rake in as much premium - sky high IV, they've been selling straddles like hotcakes
but over the next quarter, it will pull back, as this information will be digested

What's important is the conditioning being done. The 5 or 10 people who control the market know psychology and they know how to play the charts to generate emotion and states of mind the same way a musician knows how to play their instrument. The market is currently being used as an apparatus to generate despair and hopelessness. This is done typically in advance of a massive dump to maximize the value on short positions. Trap people at 25, dump it to 20, bring it up to 23, dump it to 19, pump it to 23.01, dump it to 18.50, pump it to 23.40, dump it to 10 and hold it there until the screams fade, then start buying and do the same thing in reverse.

the first catalyst was the 'go woke' gay campaign, that put a serious dent in their sales, where the first time in decades (I think) that their numbers went down
the next biggest thing is the distribution of wealth/income, and the impacts of inflation on these groups
the poorest of poor, have actually been doing okay relatively speaking, as the pay increases for the poor have been outpacing inflation, where the poor are getting richer (relatively speaking) in this environment - however, the poor doesn't shop at Target, they shop at Walmart
whereas Target, that demographic, the middle class, upper middle class, has been getting raped - their wage growth has not kept pace with inflation, these jobs are getting cut more often (right now at least) - they are getting squeezed by inflation; they are hurting, and can spend less at Target
the last thing, is the complete breakdown of law enforcement, especially in the state of California (which makes up the largest # of Target locations) where California has literally decriminalized stealing, where there are full criminal gangs coming in broad daylight to steal every single day, and law enforcement does absolutely nothing, literally nothing, so it keeps increasing, every day

Yeah, jeez, DKS is having an extremely bad day.
Investors still love WMT, even though it's also dealing with a lot of theft: P/E ratio of 30, price generally increasing the last few years.

>>55910067
Ah yeah, I've heard Tide detergent is a classic target of shoplifters who want to resell. I wonder how Kroger is able to keep it unlocked.

>>55910072
This is very interesting. Perhaps this is part of why WMT is doing so well even though "the retail industry is shaky". Wal-Mart has a lower-income customer base whose spending is increasing because their typical jobs have been paying better -- and I'm sure stimulus payments had a big impact too. Middle-class people were already buying a lot and a few thousand dollars from the government didn't make much of a difference.

Well, my local KR is much smaller than my local TGT, and the detergents are kept right near the cashiers where they're visible. They also recently installed some kind of automated one-way gate system at the entrances so if you want to exit, you have to go through the cashiers. It's not difficult to circumvent it, but apparently it's enough. They haven't hired any big security guards or anything, so idk
They do lock up razor blades, but they're in litle plastic boxes, not behind glass, and that's been standard for years now.

The entire place is a Cowboy LARP. The bars are literally called things like "Cowboy Tavern" and it's all very on the nose. They have bartenders wearing cowboy boots with exotic design patterns. But it's like upscale cowboy. It's like everything in parts of Jackson Hole is designed for fags from the city who want to feel like they're getting a rustic experience but don't want to actually feel like a blue collar dirty poor so everything is massively sterilized.
