Over the past year, I have relatively "made it", and am considering buying a property worth around $1.3 million USD. Don't know what sort of property I should buy though. I'm 32 and I'll probably retire before I hit 40 to live off of passive income. Not planning on getting married anytime soon, although once I get closer to 40 I might change my mind. What would /biz/ do in my situation?

Buy the condo. Much less maintenance and in that budget you could get something that's pretty much a house anyway but no lawn/visible neighbors

With that kind of money you should get some lakefront property. It is very peaceful living in a home on a lake.

house. condos are the worst of both worlds.
>shared walls means noise and smells seep through (blaxxx smoking weed and playin dey music, babies crying, poojeets cooking curry, etc.)
>cucked into paying property tax and condo fees which are subject to (((special assessments)))

Seconding house near the water. Either lake front or near the ocean. I'm 2 miles from the beach and it's a dream come true for me. Don't buy a big house though, maintenance is a bitch

Also this. But you could consider outright buying a multi unit. Sometimes I wish that's what I had done instead and waited on my house.

If you are spending that kind of money on a condo it probably has decent noise prevention.

Potentially even more quiet than the lawnmower/leaf blower noises in the suburbs.

As for smell, carbon filters are powerful in fixing that.

the $2800/month new construction 5-over-1 apartments in my area all have terrible reviews. the biggest complaint is poor noise proofing. you would hope a $1.3 million condo would be better, but i wouldn't get my hopes up if jewish business interests were involved.
