I'm newer to day trading and sadly I didn't know that you can do limit orders and stop losses on robinhood. I spent the last few months cashing in and out of random stocks with some success, but not enough. I did this all without limit orders (robinhood marks you up $2-$3 on your asset of you just hit BUY)

Now my question. I can handle losses and bag holding so is it a smart move to throw 10k on a stock and put a sell order at 2 cents under the price? if it tanks I lose $10 if it pumps I make a bunch. Make fun of me all you want but I bought nvdia at $115 lool

Tesla is one of this stocks that goes down down down for days and then gets on an elevator to the stratosphere. You need to DCA as it goes down and have patience. Everyone is bearish on it until it goes full retard like it has for years. Look at the % growth YoY in its different markets. It doesn’t just do one thing. Tesla is still a retirement stock if you have the conviction to ignore the volatility.

>is it a smart move to throw 10k on a stock and put a sell order at 2 cents under the price?
There’s two reasons why this is a pretty shit idea
1. Intraday fluctuations on most stocks that aren’t worth 2 cents mean that this stop loss would probably hit before you make a profit
2. If said stock is a penny stock, the stop loss will be fairly limited in its effectiveness due to liquidity issues. The orders aren’t all going to fill at that price you have set on your stop loss, some will sell at lower prices, limiting its effectiveness. This is just inherent to trading microcaps though, so a market order sell wouldn’t be much different. Penny stocks are also extremely volatile, even when they are trending upward, so that plays even harder into issue 1.
3. If you are trading stocks that are gapping up/down, and there’s a trading halt, your stop loss may not even hit until after the halt, in which case you will get caught with your pants down.
All of these are pretty much risks inherent to day trading in general, though which is why it’s gambling.

i opened a short on QQQ as soon as i saw the intraday double top, it played out exactly as i expected
i was at like +5% on the position at a point
but i didn't cover and it retardpumped all the way until I got stopped at the exact daily top for a -10% loss
maybe the stock market is just not my thing man, these weeks have been so fucking demoralizing, from buying the very fucking top on NIO and watching it go from +10% to -20% as it bled -5% daily, to shorting the daily bottoms on QQQ almost like clockwork while missing out on the big flushes like what happened yesterday afternoon.
I've lost more than 20% of my portfolio to this retardedness even though the market has been moving as I predicted.
How do you guys deal with situations like this? I literally feel so damn stupid I wanna pull all my money out of my account and never look back.

day trading is the only thing you can do with the market being like it is right now
swing or long-term positions into anything are just as prone to bleeding and sudden collapse because of the current macro, everything is too expensive, this is not a "buy and hold" market
it's pretty easy to just wait for a recession to come and DCA into stuff for pennies, but recessions don't happen every weekend, if you sit around waiting for one then you'll be putting your money under your mattress for years before you can actually invest it

These two statements are sorta contradictory. Last year I would’ve agreed with you that things are prone to sudden collapse. We haven’t really seen that YET, save for a select few stocks.
>although at this point that's clearly better than outright losing it like a retard like myself
You’re not a retard, daytrading is literally luck brother. Being cash until you find the opportunity is better than gambling it away. My positions are small, but even with this current downturn I am positive in every single one so far (I started trading again literally when S&P peaked at 450). If they drop, good, I’ll just buy with my remaining 90% cash. My positions currently are STNG, RTX, GD, and COP. I liquidated OSK at an 8% gain. Just buy cheap shit, there’s plenty of things that took a hit recently that you can ride for a little gain.

taytay is breaking all records selling out mega stadiums they need to add 3 extra gigs at every place because first sells off too quickly.

music industry bosses say only Michael Jackson was as popular as tay is currently globally. tay is quite popular not only in usa but europe and asia too, japan, korea etc. well known that is not the case for most us pop stars

Options gain considerable value with volatility and direction, buying an otm put at open that “gaps down” $2 before lunch will make a lot of money, if you bought a put that falls down $2 over the course of the day however, you will make much less money due to time decay. The global warming (called global cooling in the 70s) /climate change/ carbon credits, etc is all a huge scam based on a tiny kernal of truth, like many lies.

Our climate changes, but virtually all of it has to do with the sun and sun cycles, not you eating meat or me driving a car.

Next you will say that Bill Gates dumping chalk dust balloons to block out the sun, and aluminum and barium sprayed by Stratospheric Aerosol Injection is good for the planet. Carbon Dioxide is what plants need and part of the natural life process, it is not some toxic dangerous planet killing substance they make it out to be jfc

Why is it so improbable to believe certain gasses trap more heat than others? Water vapor is actually the main greenhouse gas, CO2 just traps enough to compound more evaporation.

Maybe I'm just uneducated on the topic but the concept behind greenhouse gases and global warming from humans creating more of them than usual just doesn't seem all that far-fetched to me. Yeah plants breathe it and all but plants don't breathe *that* quickly since they don't need much energy to live, and if humans depend on machines that pump out far more co2 than animals breathe, as well as increase the overall population of animals by an unnatural amount through farming, I could see how that may impact the heating of the planet in the short term. I don't know anything about solar cycles but that sounds like the kinda thing that might have an impact on a very long-term geologic scale but not necessarily a huge short-term one.

As far as it being a complete scam, there's probably much more money to be made by politicians and corporations denying it and pushing fossil fuels than by promoting it and pushing renewables. Maybe there's a bit of money in pushing technologies like carbon capture, but certainly there's tons of money to lose and very little to gain if stuff like meat bans are proposed, which a lot of people on here are worried about, so I'm not worried about politicians ever making a genuine push for those kinds of things. I suppose it could be a scam from the scientists themselves that the politicians aren't privy to, or maybe just a subconscious thing from environmental scientists trying to justify their decades of research and losing sight of the scientific process.

The earth (meaning the ground) is heated by the sun through radiation. The air is heated by the earth by conduction ie the air cools the earth. The lower atmosphere is cooled by the upper atmosphere through convection. There are internal heat tranfers as well but above is the main mechanism.
Either way, the air does not heat the earth more than it was heated by the sun as this would violate the laws of thermodynamics as we know them.
The only warming caused by insulating the earth with "greenhouse gasses" would be from the earth core's internal heating mechanisms and gravity or whatever. Which may happen, yet isn't discussed, almost as though global warming is made up and the mechanism doesn't matter as long as you stay a scared serf.
