I'll be moving to a totally different country for work where I don't know anyone and don't know the language.
The money is good if you're asking why I'm doing it. And I need it to support my parents and lil bro here.
But I'm scared shitless, I can't keep the anxiety jitters away. I think I'm just scared of the unknown, it's easy to say to yourself to just man up I understand it but this is totally subconscious. It's like there is a 5 ton heavy rock weighing down my heart with anxiety. It really does feel like something is squeezing my heart. Any advice, anyone else had to leave everything behind like this?

pretend you're a protagonist in a post apocalyptic video game
i do this whenever i have to go to work
helps me feel like i have purpose
a 12 hour shift at subway was horrible until it became me handing out rations to the survivors of the end of the world

I wanna second delusions. It's the kino way of dealing with soul crushing monotony.

What country? One of the european ones? You'll be fine everyone mostly speaks English anyway and you can pick up enough French or Italian or whatever to get by in a month or two. If it's Japan or China god help you they all suck at English and very few of their signs are in English. Use a translation app on your phone.

I went through something similar when I had to join the Navy or be homeless, and it didn't work out so well for me other than I saved up lots of money, bought bitcoin, and was able to retire after my mandatory service was up. Good luck.

you'd be surprised how few speak english outside of major cities (unless in netherlands where they all speak english)
but since the job is well paying and allows english as first language we can assume its a rich western europe country like sweden or germany

delusions are lit the only way to not be miserable when youre on the bottom of the ladder fr

I've done it. It's honestly easy, at least if you're already a shut-in loser. You will just be a shut-in loser (except for work) but in a different country.

Not really. I moved to Germany and I didn't speak German. My colleagues all spoke English so it was fine. Outside of work fewer people spoke English but it was still OK. It might be a little overwhelming in the beginning as you'll be starting a new job, searching for an apartment, signing up for insurance, etc. but honestly it's not a huge deal. You can ask some people at work if you're confused and need help.

I personally booked an Airbnb for around a month to start with. That gave me some time to find an apartment. I just used one of the main websites for rental properties (don't recall the name now). I viewed 2 or 3 apartments and then picked the one I like best, and that was basically it.

You can do it fren. I'm not sure if English is your first language, but in either case it won't be too difficult to learn enough German for basic day-to-day interactions. Making friends will probably be the hardest part, but your co-workers can be a good way in.

Unironically get one of these: https://www.timekettle.co/products/wt2-edge-online-voice-language-translator-earbuds

It can save your ass to be able to do real-time translation, both for just listening to stuff around you as well as holding a conversation without waiting for Google translate or whatever between each sentence

>> No.55856967

Granted I used it for Korean, and German is much easier, but between those translator earbuds and the Google lens to translate text you can navigate most stuff. Also, no matter where you are pretty much everyone under 30 knows enough English for daily basics.

Also Germans are actually pretty funny, contrary to most people's thoughts, but the humor is dry as hell and they won't laugh at themselves to signal that they're joking like us Americans who need to do that since we're constantly surrounded by easily offended retards.

I used to jump trains and hitchhike.
If you have the chance do it. Preferably while you're young; My point being anon, you'll be fine

I've done it twice already, in Belgium and Germany, stayed in an airbnb for a week at first and then found a room in a shared house. A lot cheaper than getting an apt for yourself and having to deal with a multiple year lease, and you got people to socialize with.. as well as you can move whenever, month to month if you finally found a place you like.
