just be real careful before buying anything. I'm pretty sure a bunch of these new tokens are just scams. Make sure the contract is verified too. Just use dextools, it shows most of what you need to know. Like in picrel there on the left you can see that this token is really sus. The contract isn't verified and dextools can't calculate a buy/sell tax which only ever happens on complex contracts or honeypots. The main thing with this particular token in picrel that looks really suspicious though is that sawtooth pattern the chart is making. That's a classic sign of a honeypot. You see it all the time on BSC. Those big sells are the dev dumping. In fact, probably all the sells are the dev and nobody else can actually sell, the dev just sells tiny bits from multiple wallets to make it look like people are selling when everyone is getting scammed. Never buy a token with an unverified contract (i.e. the source code of the contract hasn't been uploaded to the block explorer). I haven't had time to look through this pariticular token yet, but it just looks sus is all. About half the tokens in the "hot pairs" thing on dextools looked sus

...just to add to that. I might have made it sound like i think everything's a scam. I just meant that I've seen quite a few dodgy looking ones already after not being on there long.

I think the scammers are just trying to get in early to scam people while the tooling isn't that good yet. Unicrypt and Pinksale don't seem to be offering liquidity locking services yet for Base for instance so devs might only have the option to burn liquidity which isn't always ideal, so it makes is harder to tell which ones are more legit

There does seem to be some legit stuff though for sure. You might want to have a look at this list here to narrow it down

i'm not sure, i'm a bit late and only started looking a few hours ago. I"ll check it out though for sure. I guess we're all still pretty early though overall. The trades are pretty cheap too, like $1.50. I've done a few trades just on BaseSwap. Their UI seemed a bit busted but it ended up working. It's really not hard to spot a scam, you should relax a little.
Just go to basescan, check the contract. If it's not published, swerve that coin. If there are blacklisting mechanisms, swerve that coin. If there are any uncommon functions, read the code and figure out what it does.
Most 'scams' fail at the first hurdle with closed source codes. If purchasing the coin requires you to interact with additional contracts, repeat the above steps for those contracts.
DYOR was never and still isn't a meme. If you speak english you can spot 99% of these scams.
Regardless - worst case scenario, you buy a honeypot and lose your investment. A lot of crypto noobs think buying coins off uniswap or other reputable DEXs can compromise your whole wallet somehow. That's not possible.

>> No.55816512

>>55816314
Yeah you just basically do the reverse of what you did to buy it. The pool for toshi is TOSHI/WETH, so you can just swap from toshi back to eth if you want and then bridge it back to ethereum if you want. WETH and ETH are basically interchangeable. You could swap it to USDbC if you want though if you want it in a stablecoin instead but it will cost a little more gas because it has to go TOSHI -> WETH -> USDbC which is 2 hops. But the gas is fairly cheap so it's not a big deal

>> No.55816525

rocketswap offers liquidity locking on base
but yes, lots of scammers are abusing the lack of tooling right now, so if you find a legit coin you should definitely look into it

>> No.55816530

Thanks for the thorough rundown. I'm new so I'm wary of being blinded by that get-rich-quick mentality.
Even though I already know even the best project could flop - I've seen hacks cause devs have to issue a new token and stuff like that.
Thanks again.

>> No.55816551

>>55816483
yeah it's the scams like you get on ETH a lot that I get more worreid about, i can spot the other automated ones like on BSC fairly easy. By the ETH ones i mean where the dev will buy using a heap of fake wallets and hype the token for a while and and then slowly start selling off everything while saying "marketing is coming soon guys, just relax" and stuff like that and may even do a little bit of marketing Makes it hard to tell. Like a slow rug I guess. They usually happen on the first day though or even within the first few hours. Those scams though were things seem legit but the dev is just being manipulative, seems to happen a lot more than it used to on ETH anyway. Once a token is a few days old a decent amount of them are usually not really scams anymore. Yeah i've bought probably 50+ honeypots and rugs over the last few years. I just like trading shitcoins and trying to get in early and there's just so many things to check that i miss stuff sometimes

Dextools helps a lot with the honeypot checker and stuff. I used to have to do test buys/sells to make sure everything was ok before. There was a rug just half an hour ago or something in picrel. Can spot that one pretty easy because contract wasn't verified. It had the same name as one of the more popular tokens though so I guess that's how they trick people. I hope one day the cops go through the blockchain data with AI or something and find every one of these scammers and rape them in the ass throw them in jail for the rest of their life. It's so annoying we even have to deal with it so much. I kind of blame Vitalik too for creating a system where its so easy to scam people then basically doing nothing about it and making billions from it

i got Toshi so far. Seems to have come down a bit lately so may be a good chance to buy here.

But anything on base will take some time since volume is low as the network sets up ease of access. In a month or two it will be easier to access everything and more volume will come in.

Use that website for anything defi. Beefy finance was a previous eth yield farm. Generally the yield farms will always port over to a new chain eventually. but rewards are based on that chain. Eth is the most secure but also lowest paying usually.

BaseSwap should be worth at least $30 by now desu, Over $50m tvl and setting itself to be the utterly dominant dex, TVL could exceed $150M in less than a month, And for comparison other dexes with that tvl are worth $70M+ circulating marketcap.

In 2-4 weeks+Major cex listing it could be worth north of $100 pretty easily

from what i can tell, you need to lock VELO tokens to be eligible for the AERO airdrop.

what does TAROT have to do with that? is there another way to be eligible for the airdrop?

>Likewise, secondary $veVELO layers that accepted user deposits of VELO and locked it on their behalf will not be included.

>> No.55824932

Nope. Tarot never took user VELO and locked it for them, they used their own protocol-owned liquidity to farm and lock it.

Gotcha, makes sense. Thanks! Have they discussed anywhere how they plan to allocate the AERO airdrop? I guess it will get voted on?

>> No.55825027

>>55824978
The veAERO they're going to get will probably be used to vote on TAROT pairs in Aero, which is IMO more beneficial than just airdropping it to holders. Them doing that will also spur leveraging which in turn increases TAROT's lending rates.

>> No.55825067

>>55825027
Just to make sure I understand, the idea is that once Aerodrome launches, the TAROT/OP APR will go way up? Or will I need to swap to a different pool once it comes out?

>> No.55825222

>>55825067
Aerodrome is on Base, so when it launches, the AERO emissions controlled by Tarot through their voting power and bribes will go towards their TAROT LP on that DEX. That LP will also have a lending pool on Tarot where you can lend for a variable APR. I can't say what the APR will be, but I'm assuming it's going to be decently high, just like how it is right now in their TAROT Velo pools.

>> No.55825265

>>55825222
Word, so the TAROT/OP LP is just a lil holding pen to earn APR whilst awaiting the Aerodrome launch, at which point I'll want to bridge the TAROT over to Base and toss it into a TAROT/AERO LP

Thanks a bunch for answering all my questions!

looks like the tg was created on the 3rd of august and it already has 70,000 members. They've gotta be fake members, that's way too many in that short of a time. So that's not a good look really. Basescan says it's renounced, and the contract doesn't look like a fake renounce. There's a mint function in the contract, but if it's renounced they can't call it anyway. The contract is very simple which is good, no tax or anything. They had an airdrop apparently, not sure if that's good or not. Still looking into it anyway

Is there a tool somewhere to easily track someone across multiple addresses ? There's a token called EldenRingDiabloBG31000xInu, just launched like 10 minutes ago. It's a scam, he's going to rug pull soon I'm pretty sure. But the guy has been just creating a scam token on Base, rugging, then transferring the money to a new wallet, then creating a new token, then rugging, then transferring to a new wallet, and so on, like at least a dozen times, for days it looks like. It would be good to know which wallets he creates in the future. So annoying these billion dollar companies like CoinBase don't do anything about this kind of stuff really, surely they could easily track him and stop it somehow

according to basescan, 35% of the liquidity is burned, the rest is locked with onlymoons. The contract isn't renounced, but sometimes utility tokens have reasons for not doing that, so maybe it's ok, i'm not sure. The price just went up a bunch though, maybe it'll come down again soon

Those wouldn't be very good for a meme token, but because it has utility there might be a reason for it. Like Moonarch and P00coin and stuff don't have renounced contracts for example because they need to change things from time to time. Or it could be fishy, i'm not sure
