It is a purposeful dehumanization. It's a humiliation ritual. What do you give people who "won" and already have everything? You, that's what. Somebody to berate and degrade so they can get an emotional kick, a feel-good high. That's how these people work. They're dead inside not because their soul died, but because it was never born. Boomers were not disciplined as toddlers. They never learned to share or be considerate. They've never known what it's like to not have absolutely everything provided for them.

Develop thicker skin as well. I've had PMs cc the director when complaining about me in emails, ambush me asking me why I'm ignoring their requests blah blah blah etc...But when they see me give them a blank reaction and remain completely unbothered they just lose interest in harassing me and go somewhere else. Asking you to be "proactive" is not negative feedback.. it's just ambiguous.

Ask them to be more specific, and if they say it's a common sense thing, tell them you don't have that: "I have no common sense, like you do, so why don't you try telling me what you need in detail so I can improve according to you criteria".

If they say "I got no time for that" just tell them they can try to manage their time better, and you are available whenever they are.

A couple months ago I withdrew my 401k and figured my cost of living was low enough to get by on day trading. Made $2300 in a single trade then lost $3000 over a month of poorly timed trades. Literally broke out with shingles after a series of fuck ups. I’m still determined to avoid the workplace; if I just don’t over trade and wait for a good opportunity I can make a month’s paycheck in an afternoon. I can’t imagine trying to split time between the stock market and working a 9-5 job.
