Pretty much everything that matters. They make MRIs way cheaper which means a powerful medical imaging system becomes way more practical and accessible. Combined with A.I. and machine learning this would allow extremely rapid diagnosis of all sorts of illnesses which in a civilized country (not necessarily the U.S.) would result in extremely better health outcomes. That is objectively a possibility. Next, you have fusion reactors being vastly easier to generate net positive energy. Fusion reactors becoming common place means energy abundance which has countless applications in itself. Next, you have quantum computing becoming a possibility for people to actually have in desktop form eventually as opposed to an impossibility. Again, the applications of this are countless. Room temperature super conductors are borderline God-tier technology because they pretty much make it possible for all sorts of other God-tier technology to be a possibility which those technologies themselves open up more wild technology. This technology is legitimately a bottle neck so if this is actually a thing and that is such a big if that everyone should be skeptical of this, but if it's actually been done the people trying to downplay it like it's no big deal are stupid, deliberately deceptive, or mentally ill. They're worse than pic related.

Basically, the room temp super conductor breakthrough is like the lithium battery.
Before we had nickel metal hydride, and batteries always had to be fucking massive otherwise they had a shit work life.
When we figured out we could use lithium, batteries got much better. They could be complex shapes, they could be various thicknesses and they could be recharged. They could put out more power, more quickly, over a longer time, than the previous iterations of battery.

Imagine your cell phone requiring you replace 4-AA batteries in the back, every couple hours of use.

Lithium prevented that hellish nightmare simulator.

A retardedly simple way to explain it is if you had a power source that could generate tons of electricity you would have the issue of how do you transport that electricity? Wires of course! But when you transport it through the wires we have now, you "lose" some of the energy along the way. A super conductive material doesn't lose that energy so it allows essentially perfect transfer of electricity, but the problem is to "activate" this you need to cool certain materials down to really low temperatures which limits the practicality of it and increases the cost...when you no longer have to worry about constantly keeping it cool though suddenly this material becomes a practical building block sort of like how nuclear fission became a building block or like this >>55748721 anon points out lithium batteries became a building block. It's the idea that this new "thing" can be shaped and applied to things where previously it didn't make sense to. It enables a lot of other shit IF it is what they claim it is. Even if this thing somehow fails to not be scalable or there is some other impairment to it, it's like discovering the Earth is round. It changes the paradigm of what we know is possible.
>>55748737
Supposedly this thing doesn't have an expiration in the sense you're using it. The whole thing seems almost impossible, that's why everyone is so skeptical. From a material science standpoint this is like the equivalent of someone suddenly just coming out and being like
>"yo we found a way to stop or reverse aging"
and it actually somehow has credibility. It's seemingly too good to be true.

Nothing lasts forever but you can stand on a cinderblock for your whole life without it collapsing under you. This material has a fairly stable structure, and will last practically forever unless damaged by excessive heat, or something of that nature.
A room temp superconductor doesn't break any physical laws. We have plenty of ones which work fine under liquid nitrogen and perform very useful tasks that way e.g. MRI machines. The only limit they have is you need to keep them very cold. This new one, if it works, will just make using them a lot cheaper, and open up some new practical uses.

>> No.55749609

>>55748737
the limits you're looking for is either a cap on eletctric floweate, which is 0.25 amps, cap on how strong a magnet it can resist, which is probably in the paper but not common knowledge, and how much force/weight it can sustain, which i don't know how to calculate. though all this is aside to the main problem, which is it's not actually room temperature, it needs to be under 110K.
otherwise no, it's as permanent as anything else.

You're not retarded mate, most people don't understand what a super conductor can do and why that's important. It's basically this.

1. No loss of electric charge which means no heat run off.

2. Weird magnetic properties. Imagine actual hoverboards and hover vehicles (see video).

Having this at room temperature means we won't need to keep metals cold to use these quantum properties. The breakthrough is a major revolution in tech for longer batteries, computer chips not overheating, less power needed to move stuff.

Nah that stuff is still way wayyy off and will require other breakthroughs

In fact, the only thing correct about your post is the last part:
>less power needed to move stuff.
That's basically the gist of it
It will initially be used as a much better substrate for the materials used in technology so heat will become much less of an issue

The "weird magnetic properties" could lead to home/portable quantum computers but this will also require breakthroughs in quantum computing hardware

This is apparently room temp. It eliminates a huge amount of complexity in cooling systems and makes it almost impossible to quench. It should make tokamak fusion easy.

A room temperature superconductor makes everything easier.
Everything. Imagine a computer that doesn't need heatsinks. A superconductor that, from the sounds of things, is all fucking over the place right here on Earth and easy as fuck to make, means that there is zero or near zero resistance on wires, chips, etc.
Energy transmission wouldn't lose X energy due to Y resistance per length of wire. Powerplants that have near 100% energy transmission to wherever can downsize massively.
>Spaceflight
Will never be pushed out to the masses. If the human race unlocked meaningful personal spaceflight, every human would have the power to, essentially, destroy a city.
>How?
Orbital velocities are measured in tens of thousands of miles per hour, relative. Ever seen/read "The Expanse?" In it some terrorists start sending asteroids at the Earth in a war between the asteroid belt and the Earth and fucking wreck shop. It honestly wouldn't take an asteroid, just a telephone pole made of high tungsten steel would hit with the power of a small nuclear weapon. Orbital dynamics are actually pretty easy too, every play Kerbal Space Program? You can deorbit shit onto a pinpoint once you figure out the math.

>Not necessarily the United States
Fucking LOL! ROFL even. What is it like to be this ignorant? Just because Americans pay for their healthcare, does NOT mean it is not advanced.
Quite the opposite.
Healthcare in the US is lightyears beyond anything else in the world for everyone including the poor and homeless. How else do you think they keep the hamplanets alive? Even the worst hospitals in shithole cities, like my next one, HCMC in Minneapolis is shit tier by US standards, but might as well be magic by Europeans.
Even supposed "First World" countries like France, Norway, Australia, and Germany are practicing 1990's AT BEST American medical technology.
>How do you know this???
My job is fixing high end medical equipment. I work on everything from MRI to ECG and EEG and travel the world extensively.
>Where are you now?
Mayo in Rocheater Minnesota. It is an incredible hospital and possibly the best hospital on the planet. Everything here is cutting edge.
I was last in Frankfurt Germany and before that Oslo doing routine maintenance on their equipment.
>B-b-b-but the 90's?
Oh you fucking right.
The MRI in The Oslo Radium Hospital Rikshospitalet is almost as old as I am. No joke, Russian tier. They had gotten a pretty big piece of ferrous metal stuck to it too, which was problematic because it left a pretty nasty ding in the klystron and we had to replace some pretty expensive stuff.
The Aussies are no better.
The Germans are slightly ahead of the rest of Europe, but only because they have access to modern medical technology with the US military there. The big military hospital on Ramstein is easily ten years advanced to anything in Germany proper.
When people say what you do, they out themselves as ignorant as fuck. Please educate yourself.

However your curry hardfork doesn’t work as the private keys themselves need to be upgraded, if you jeets actually care to explore other currencies like quantum coins you’ll know it’s talked about plainly in quantum coins (hard forking bitcoin to quantum resistance doesnt work as the private key needs to be manually migrated by the user to lattice based cryptography, the 64 digit bitcoin keys needs to become at least 3 times longer in quantum cryptography so an attacker could pretend to be the original owner and migrate it) you fucking poo monkey gorilla subhuman, hang yourself you stinking nigger Kumar and enjoy bitcoin going to zero for real as there’s no defence against quantum attacks it for boomer coin lol!

The 'mind' of a jeet. If you groked blockchains you'd realize how trivial swapping pkc algos is, indeed, shitcoins like jeetcoin are just clones of other earlier projects with swapped pkc algos.

Powerful QCs would require worldwide migration from current dominate cryptography algos, this wouldn't be limited to BTC or crypto, and the process is the same whether it's your gpg key or your BTC wallet.

1) fork to QC resistant algorithm
2) make new key pair
3) sign new public key with old private key

For crypto this would take the form of sending existing balances to new wallets, and then decommissioning abandoned wallets after the transition period. Easy.
