A retardedly simple way to explain it is if you had a power source that could generate tons of electricity you would have the issue of how do you transport that electricity? Wires of course! Nothing lasts forever but you can stand on a cinderblock for your whole life without it collapsing under you. This material has a fairly stable structure, and will last practically forever unless damaged by excessive heat, or something of that nature.
A room temp superconductor doesn't break any physical laws. We have plenty of ones which work fine under liquid nitrogen and perform very useful tasks that way e.g. MRI machines. The only limit they have is you need to keep them very cold. This new one, if it works, will just make using them a lot cheaper, and open up some new practical uses.

A couple years ago Commonwealth Fusion Systems developed what was called a high temperature superconductor. By that they meant like -20 instead of -150. That allowed for a 20 Tesla magnetic field and opened the door for realistically building a net positive fusion generator.
This is apparently room temp. It eliminates a huge amount of complexity in cooling systems and makes it almost impossible to quench. It should make tokamak fusion easy.
