People complain about unaffordable housing but why don’t they just buy from a smaller up and coming town instead? A nice house in a big city is a want, not a need.

>> No.55732461

because you can't get a job in that smaller town you fucking retard

that's why it's called property VALUE, if the price is low it's because there's no fucking value

Surplus population.
Neither of you should exist if you can't create something of value. You need society to create framework for you to leech with your pointless existence, rather than actively create anything of meaning.

Sup boys I'm here to save this thread. The argument of "move to where the work is" is not new, and is why almost all of these small towns exist in america to begin with. Most of them, especially out west, are the result of a niche industry o agricultural hub being formed and then abandoned when it became unprofitable. The same thing happens in large cities aswell, ie: Detroit, Toledo, soon to be San Fransisco. It was always super common to move around for work beginning in the industrial revolution and various resource rushes. Remote work is the counterpoint to this, and does allow for a certain percentage of people (like me) to live in a cheap area and work for a company in an expensive one. It only works for some people and some jobs however, so the point stands of, "if you can't do the work remotely then the pay will equilibrium with the area". This is true eventually, but what young, childless men who want to profit need to relearn, is to look for where an industry you want to work is will be in 5 years, and keep an eye on it. Is anyone surprised Texas is blowing up right now? We are reshoring a shitload of our supply chains to north america and that means mexico, which means cross border collaboration, which means texas because california is too expensive. There are opportunities like this all over. The Texas triangle is going to be the fastest growing area for job for the next 25 years. But its not the only one. My home state of WV is building next generation power plants and titanium plants all along its border to power bigger cities like columbus, nashville, charlotte, pittsburgh, etc. Tons of infrastructure and jobs moving to that area over the next 5-10. If you want to prosper, and most of you do, the plan needs to be where is the hot area in 5-10 and start positioning yourself for it now. WV is a great example, it has fiber internet and 25% cost reduction or more from surrounding areas, so I can work out of columbus and drive in occasionally.

Houses aren't expensive, you've just been robbed blind. Note that "cheap" locations have also experienced this parabolic rise, houses in Gary Fucking IN go for $100-200k
>b-but dats less dan da ciby!
and they were even less 10 20 30 years ago, buying in a shit location does not solve the problem, the problem is the corruption of money, and the only viable solution is capital flight into trustless money.

The real answer is because /biz/ is filled with bitter neets and social outcasts with max 10k to their name who will never be able to afford property, even a run down single wide trailer, without one of the following: 1) obtaining gainful employment and saving up more money 2) getting a girlfriend to share the cost of purchasing with 3) a catastrophic housing collapse which causes their 10k to double or triple in value relative to housing prices thus making it affordable for them to buy one while doing absolutely fuck all in the process. Now you tell me - which of these sounds most likely?
