It was a very convincing Johnson Matthey 1oz gold bar that passed the magnet test and had the correct dimensions nearly down to the millimeter.
It turned out it was of a plated brass alloy. I was only able to spot it because of the lettering discrepancy that I'm seeing here.

It had already been among his stack for some time. Very unfortunate.
I was able to track down the exact original origin, from one of those Chinese websites that mass produce the cheap stuff.
Not to say that he bought it directly from there, but that was its source and it ended up in his stack.

Back to the platinum bars, they have the very same fake look to them. I've been trying to find a similar obviously listed counterfeit, but I haven't been able to find any. My gut still rejects their look.

Counterintuitive but understandable considering the pretty bleak performances of Pt since mid-April highs. If the trend stay similar for another month we will be in $8xx territory, a great slurping opportunity imho. Over the past 20 years it only went this low on 6 occasions and refused to go any lower (not counting the 1 day blip of the march coof crash), probably because 800 bux must be AISC.

Wouldn't hurt to have some $$ ready to seize the opportunity.

Since these threads feel empty now and dead now I figure I might give some advice on stacking through my experience, 1 don't fomo over fear especially silver,there will always be someone wanting to sell their stack,2 dont fomo over a deal beacusw you scared it'll go away ,I spent 2k on a saint gaudens in less than vf on pmsforsale a month ago ,but now liberty.com has a deal on a bu 20 dollar liberty head for 2033,had I waited a month longer I could've gotten that good deal ,3 wait on spot lowering if you can afford to ,if spot went back to 2k don't worry ,it'll go back down again it always does ,didn't buy at that high price but I bought at the 1970 spot range a couple months back ,had I waited I could've gotten more gold than what i have now,still in the green but y'know,4 don't buy generics ,their silver is made from apmex silver and sounds dull when you do a ping test ,90 percent is more verifiable than generics,basically anything that has copper weather gold or silver will have a recognizable ping to it,5 don't watch silver youtubers they sell fear and false hopes of silver mooning to get you to buy from their sponsor, gold makes better gains but again wait for the good deal ,really that's all there is to it ,don't fomo when you can wait a while longer to get a good deal

I think what’s going to be far more interesting is what happens to everyone else except the dollar. All other fiat schemes are in a demonstrably worse position than the dollar simply by virtue of the fact that they are downstream of the dollar in the pyramid. Guys, I just had a thought. While many of us are waiting for the silver price to moon, it's worth getting into the mindset that the ones controlling the market will close it if it does. Also it wouldn't have much impact on silver: silver is primarily in solar panels and high-end electronics which both get very hot during usage so a room temperature super conductor would get too hot and would start to resist the electrical current. So your phone would become very slow during high loads and your solar panel would lose most of it's power production during the day.
