Accelerating accumulation of US government debt combined with economic stagnation and inflation. A global movement to dethrone the USD as international reserve and trade currency causing a tsunami of dollars flooding back into the domestic market. Accelerating US bank failures due to the impending collapse of commercial real estate and defaults on subprime loans. Increasing political and social instability in the USA and Europe. A proxy war between the USA and Russia that neither can afford. A stock market held up with duct tape and bailing wire.

The music is about to stop and there is only one chair for every ten people. The existing structure of global fiance and economics is about to roll over like a capsized super-tanker. What assets will survive? The assets that have held value for three thousand years look like a good bet to me. But I could be wrong. Tell me a better one?

And increasing interest rates are accelerating the trend while global movement away from the USD will increase the rate at which the US government accumulates debt. The trend lines lead to the point where interest on the debt exceeds all Federal revenue. At that point the government will be paying the mortgage with a credit card. There will be no graceful way out. But I doubt the existing system will last even that long.

And no matter what happens, gold and silver will still be gold and silver.

The way i see it, the liberal democracies are stronger than ever.
Every war in Africa oder Asia will strengthen us and weaken them because we have the will, the competence, the merit and the mechanisms to solve problems. While they only have corruption and offer nothing but fear.
If you think China simply takes over, wait what happens if we stop buying their cheap trinkets.

I have heard your doom'n'gloom for 35 years, for as long as i can remember. History tells me i can pick any year in the last 200 years and it will say civilisation is falling apart.

Just you, silver bro.
Clever people buy some gold as a hedge against problems with the monetary system, not in the hopes you gonna make it because it somehow returns a profit.

Once the financial problems are solved, you can buy the new currency or cheap land. If it doesn't get solved, you buy booze, chocolate or cigarettes for trading against beans, rice and pork.

It's just money, simple as. I trade my fiat toilet paper for real money (gold and silver) that will never expire or be devalued or have a "currency crisis". These metals are my savings account, period. I'm not going to later on exchange for new currency, except to the extent that I need to in order to survive. I've already been stocking lots of canned food, firewood, and other supplies.
I don't care if silver moons or doesn't. I have money, real money. That's what matters.

Don't care about their affiliations or lack thereof, they're still playing within the rules and bounds of the official narrative.
They might as well be making predictions as to which political party (democrats or republicans) will win in 2050. It doesn't matter, because this 2-party political system is a scam.
So long as people remain trapped in these false narratives, the objective is achieved. It serves to keep people occupied and distracted, so they don't ask any real questions.

It depends on your intentions and your budget. Personally, I use PMs as a physical long-term savings account and I also collect things I just think are neat. Gold tends to perform better than silver and comes with a lower premium and takes up less space, all of which make it appealing. Meanwhile, people tend to lean more into silver if they think it'll take off enough to outweigh its premium (or they're SHTF retards lol).

If I were making a first purchase today, I'd buy a 1 oz gold coin and a tube of 1 oz silver coins from my country's mint, the US Mint. Your native coins will be the most liquid, should you decide to sell. After having dabbled in a little bimetal fun and lurking here a bit, reassess your plan and budget some sort of regularly-occurring purchase. Ofc, if you stick around long enough, the 'tism might kick in and you'll start buying 1 of everything in every weight from every corner of the world and every time period (at least that's what happened to me).

Thanks for input! The premium on gold locally is very high, almost high enough for it to not go for silver with the low premium. (if I am in for the long run I just have to calculate what I will on a average get in return after n years)

I do like collecting everything that I think are neat aswell and I have a massive collection of various types thats in for the long run.

As for mintage, my country has very few/not available coins, which other coins are my best bet to buy?

Lol, no it's fine anon and it's why most people here have silver in their stack (including yours truly). However, investing in something *because* the market is manipulated and fake and gay is probably not a great idea IMO. I like silver coins and I still buy them and think they're neat, but I'm not holding my breath for big-dick swingers to all get their comeuppance at once so the silver sister's prophecy can be fulfilled, making every schizo and bubba an overnight millionaire for simply owning a few hundred ounces.

Actually a little more than that even, but once you factor in the premiums, your investments are likely up around 15%ish. Now look at where gold was 5 years ago and you'll see that it was the much better investment over the past 5 years.

Well, at least the premiums are down quite dramatically on most places. A sign the demand for PMs cooled off, thus ppl feeling safer.

I'm too much of an hermit to know what the normies are believing, but it feels like all is over. The tempest is behind us : banks saved, soft landing validated, inflation tamed, coof eradicated, vax scandal under-the-rugged, migrants citizened, real estate bubble staying inflated,...

But it sound fake to my ears, me guts tells me it's the calm before the storm.

I am just getting started but been reading and asking as much as I can. Personally, I am going to buy Royal Mint Britannias in gold. The reason for this is that they have nice security features that may make them easier to liquidate when the time comes. I am also going to save up and buy the largest quantity at a time I can afford, because the smaller the weight and quantity the more the premium. So I personally will not get anything smaller than 1oz coins. Again, I am still new but that is what I am leaning towards.

The BRICS announcement might wake some of them up, but probably not that many, because the narrative is tightly controlled. However the spot prices for gold and silver might climb. That's mainly why I want to get this done sooner rather than later.

I'm in euroland so those don't help me any. Basically any silver is just as good and weiners tend to be one of the cheapest options. I don't think crypto is over- but I don't think it'll moon. I can see Bitcoin crashing and remaining around maybe $10,000 per bitcoin. Bitcoin has some value as a bellwether for crypto, and there will always be demand for crypto; criminals will use it for digital transactions (including Le Banksters and their CBDC). Hell, I can see crypto remaining as something like the lottery: a tax on idiots.

What crypto is not is a store of value. It depends on electronics, which have to be maintained, and this is where crypto nerds start seething. Gold and silver don't require maintenance, they don't need special equipment to access, and have ready chemical properties that can be tested to ensure their integrity. That crypto wallet, meanwhile, might contain millions in Bitcoin- or it could be empty, or it could contain a virus that bricks my computer.

TL;DR: crypto nerds will seethe.

Just won an auction for this bronze statue of Naga Buddha.
I think it may be very old and worth a lot of monies, is there any clue to determine how old it is?

Before you tell me i got scammed by a cambodian pajeet, i must give you a bit of background.
I bought it from a seller with the most insane collection of old coins ever. Alongside incredibly rare items, like medieval swords and napoleonian muskets. Probably a guy who inherited the stuff, but he don't wanna bother too much with it : he put everything on sale for 1 buck, with little to no descriptions and just 2 pics.
It didn't take long for ppl to catch up, and now you have a hundred of boomies following his every move and dozens of bids for each item he put on sale. So much so now, after 400 items in just 3 weeks, the prices aren't so interesting.

But for this one he outdid himself in term of lazyness : "antique buddha", 2 pics and go.
Considering everything he have is museum-tier, i think it's very unlikely this one item is just chink trash.

Me think it could be a Munchilinda Buddha from the 12th century of Khmer Kingdom during King Jayavarman VII ruling. Apparently it was pretty popular during his reign and he sponsored Naga stuff.

imperial russian coins, dunno what period maybe broad guess from 1750 to 1890.
so that should be Rubles. they have this weird systems of ''dolyas'', but most of the time where fixed with french franks of that time. silver to gold was fixed to 27 dolya of silver to 1 ruble(so 15:1). they even used platinum rouble from 1815 i think(2:1 against gold).

Speaking of numismatic, i recently followed 2 live auctions. Prices were starting at 50% of the estimation's value for all coins (so starting price of $100 if the expert estimated it at $200).
I'd say 90% of the coins sold for the starting price, and the others didn't sell at all, it was very depressing to watch. Gave me the feeling Numismatic is going the collector stamps way : dying with boomers.
I myself recently scored 2-3 feudal coins for way below their catalogue price, but after watching the auctions, i'm not sure i did so great after all.. It must be a dream for any collector on a budget, but a nightmare if you are planning your numis' to be a store of value / investment.
Idk if it's only declining over here (EU) or if it's also a thing for the burgerbros?

I used to be a coin collector as a a child, but once I seen how over bloated the market got when I could start buying many of the coins I liked then I decided to focus on silver in it's many forms from jewelry, "numismatic" pre fed silver coins, tableware pieces and decorative/functional silver, plus a small bit of bullion. Honestly if I was going the coin collecting route to future proof it would be pre communist china coins excluding any trade dollars due to the bloated pricing and ties to the west. Old gold from any country will keep a premium even if the country falls, examples are abundant so it's a good play, but if it's something from the 1980s up in gold don't expect to get jack over melt in fifty years for it.

Also all those horizontal lines that run down the side of the statue. Those are grind marks from were they ground down the edge from the cast so it wouldn't be sharp. A shity replica will still have them an artist would have smoothed them away. Even a decent replica shop will smooth those away.

Yes and no, the one I posted is a higher quality replica but it's still a modern replica. The one I posted the company made a detailed cast, took the time to smooth away any cast lines, and went light on the applied black patina because they didn't need to cover up any pits from a bad cast. A bad cast will have pits in the metal and they will apply a very heavy black patina to cover those up, his lack of detail in the face and body are likely from a poorly detailed cast because it's cheaper and are not wear and tear from age. They do have similarities that are common on "antique replicas" those being the polished high spots and dark low spots to make it feel much older than it is. Here is a 14th century bronze statue, it has a uniform dark patina with the green around the hands as well as around some of the other small details.

Sorry frogbro my fren but that is definitely a modern creation. It's possible that many good genuine artifacts were being sold too but without seeing and comparing the material that has been liquidated I suspect that much of it was modern fantasy/reproduction/forgery stuff, the crappiest made for the tourist trade and better fakes made to swindle actual collectors. Many asian fakes are pretty obvious like this snake buddha but others are extremely sophisticated and convincing with patina and encrustation that would fool 9999/10000 people, so as a rule I avoid almost every "ancient" asian artifact or coin unless I'm absolutely certain it's legitimate (which is very infrequent).

>>55710522
>Those are grind marks

This anon knows what's up, the modern grinding wheel or filing marks on the sprues and seams of cast metal items is the #1 red flag, several other less obvious factors also suggest it is a modern creation but are hard to explain to inexperienced collectors.

If you can spot a fake windmill you can likely spot a fake statue. They are both metal and share alot of the same hallmarks for real vs fake. Pic related is a real 12th century statue and look similar at first glance in age as anons. But it's not, the patina looks natural, not thickly painted on. It has scratches, dents, and dings, from the years like a coin would aquire, anons doesn't. It has sharp details, and no cast or grind marks like a real coin vs a fake coin which would have smudged, fat, or deformed details. This one hasn't developed the green tint meaning it was likely well sheltered and polished over the years. I think anon got scammed, it also doesn't help that this seller was selling hundreds of supposed rare items on ebay and the starting bids where all 1 or 2 dollars.

those are soviet Chervonets gold coins, very similiar to sovereigns but in a more red-gold alloy tone and slightly heavier. they have been minted inbetween 1923-1982, mine are from the mid 70s.
the soviets sold those coins in their international hotels in exchange for western currency, USD, german Mark, swiss francs and british pounds.
you could not purchase those in russian rubles.

Please note, "silver versus gold" is a favorite topic of some people who only want to stir shit to disrupt the board. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and answer you with civility.

It depends to some extent what you are looking for. Gold and silver have both been money for three thousand years and most stackers think they are both a good bet for surviving the likely upcoming economic storms. So if you are buying to preserve wealth either will work fine.

Beyond that, their prospects are somewhat different. Silver has substantially more industrial use than gold. But gold has a higher chance of being remonetized. Both are manipulated by unscrupulous bankers, fixing spot price, but that is getting harder for them to manage. Many people think that the prices of silver and gold will rise dramatically when the banks lose their grip on the market.

Of course you can buy some of both! That's what I do. I also suggest that you buy things that interest you rather than just the cheapest bullion.

also there's only about 7m oz mined per year of platinum (70% from SA and another 20% from RU) vs the 1 billion oz of silver.
If you take "muh rarity scale" then 1 oz of platinum is about 150x as rare as 1 oz of silver, yet it's only about 1000$ an oz and silver is like 25$ (40x)
Therefore according to your own cope logic, platinum is a 3x better buy.

I can do the same type of metal gymnastics with the comex market cap like I was saying

There are 180,604 oz of platinum (total)
There are 281,695,584 oz of silver (total)
plat market cap: ~$175.5m
silver market cap: ~$7.05b

So ackshually platinum is a 40x better buy, chuds!!

I am just trying to steer you away from the logic-trap that is buying silver. You think that because it's cheap you will get a bigger gainz multiplier when it goes up(because you'll have more oz), but that's not going to be the case. You are just being greedy, this logic is natural "get while the gettin's good" but your interpretation of it probably comes from a video game and not real life experience.

I would rather see you buy copper for 2$/lb. I would not shit on anyone stacking copper, because although it's abundant, it's practical and has a lot of real-world value. It's also tied to real-world mining costs.

What would anybody do with silver? Make a mirror? It's only 6% better than copper at conductivity.

Meanwhile platinum is like the skeleton key of organic chemistry. Not to mention the rarity.

Anyway, every single time I bring up PGMs. It devolves in some autistic screeching and frogposting from the poor autists who have 30-40oz of silver buffalos and think they're going to buy "cunny" and lambos with their slimy blackened rounds.

How so? Me think you are using big boi words you don't know shit about. Just name one iteration of gold and silver being used as super conductor. You can't.

So how can a cheap superconductor make G&S obsolete when they never were used as superconductors to begin with?

Also, the last 2 times a new "revolutionary" ambient T° superconductor was supposedly discovered, it turned out to be complete bullshit by diversity hires scientists seeking some clout by spewing lies (and the (((media))) too happy to display browns as le new intelligent man) who have been debunked within months. 2) bullion commemorative 70s and 80s chervonets. Mostly were sold to foreigners for USD. They are more or less common, and respected in Russia

The problem you are not understanding with regards to silver is the real world supply/demand is able to be spoofed with the paper markets. The financial system has an exponentially increasing obligation to procure resources to banks, insurance funds, pensions, medical industry etc. and they will not be able to do this on an exponential basis. People will ultimately be deemed winners or losers and the ability to spread out losses will come proportionally to your exposure to dollars and other leveraged wealth. Useful materials that have built in labor and energy will do exceedingly well. And historically and in the present day mining data silver is extremely undervalued.
No doubt, the banks will orchestrate a head-fake for as long as they can. But reality will reassert itself. The balance sheets that are used to management the banking system are already destroyed and there isn't even a pretense that this economy functions without even more leverage.
The next step is realizing that the money you worked for and put into the bank is NOT going to be pulling out an equivalent (or more) of resources back out. You put 5 apples into the bank and when it comes time to retire you will find your money only buys you three. Simple, really. And to disagree is to assume that finance and accounting can create some sort of free lunch. Like if you put a skilled enough banker on an island he can just create boundless wealth all on his own. The truth is in order for you to earn any sort of "growth" the banks have been excreting refuse in the form of BONDS. The bond market is $46TN in size and the stock market is $22TN. It's not rocket science to say that at some point there will need to be a reckoning and that reckoning is going to be a big game of musical chairs.

The paper-ponzi needs commodities to be leveraged into products to create jobs, taxes and profits. People taking money OUT of the paper-ponzi and stashing metal under their mattress is basically pulling at an inelastic commodity.
Think about it: Metals make the best money because they do not spoil and bullion is a refined-finished product that has already incorporated labor and energy. That little wisdom I just shared is actually not something the entire world can enjoy. Just like any ponzi, it is only those who exit first are the ones who benefit.
It honestly wouldn't take much for every city to have some boomer billionaire decide to move a large portion of his wealth into physical and the retail market could be vacuumed up overnight. In such an instance anyone "in the know" is not going to be selling....
