Why do Americans pay taxes the government can just print whatever it wants?

Because you need something to offset the inflation caused by poor's being able to buy groceries and afford housing. Besides, if the US just printed money people would start demanding healthcare and decent schools. But if they are forced to pay a third of their paycheck then they feel like having free things would be too exorbitant or something. Can't let the human cattle have it too good or they might start getting ideas.
