Hmm current payment on all debt (personal loan + credit card) is $420 a month. Although its split thank god. Roughly pay half during mid of the month and the other during the end of the month. Payoff of personal loan is in 2026. At which time I can dump the whole 420 at the credit card. The rub; Her car is at the point its saying "Hey I'm getting ready to die soon" The other rub; tax refunds. Ideally I'd dump them at the credit card to knock that down faster. But with her car screaming "I'm dying" that may not be an option. I could merely sell some stock (KO and VZ) and nip the whole lot of it in the bud and buy her another car. But fuck that. Those shares will never be sold long as I'm alive. (and even after I'm dead If I've got my way)

Kek your state may tax you more to if you've got an EV. Why? Cause they're losing out on the gas tax dollar. Also I think some of the tax credits you can claim during tax time is expired or will be soon. In short; your fucked no mater what. P.S - never charge via 120v. Unless your staying in for the night. Cause that's how long it'd take to charge. Now you could speed that up via 240v but come on; how many people have that plug in their home garage or close at hand. Not to many.

That is precisely what is happening. US shale oil in the 2010s basically just delayed the inevitable. The west is realizing they're not gonna be able to keep oil stable in dollars much longer because cheap oil is peaking globally and shale is peaking domestically, and global producers know it and are gonna stick it to us. But you can't just come out and tell people what's going on because it causes a panic and oil speculation yadda yadda so, the reason is: 'climate change'.

In truth, the solution is not batteries it's CNG and/or ammonia powered ICE vehicles. Ammonia can be synthesized from air and water in infinite quantity with no CO2 issues if electricity is cheap enough (Uranium chads know what I'm sayin). Petrochems and plastics are a little more problematic, but again if electricity/heat is cheap enough we can find other feedstock that is renewable.

No, it's not fine. LPG equivalent CNG tanks for forklifts are 3-5x the size, and LPG only has about 70% the volumetric energy density as gasoline, so you'd need a tank 10-20x the size, and 100x the cost, of a gasoline tank to get the same performance from a CNG car as a gas car. Juice not worth the squeeze.

I cringe even more thinking about the DOE true believers handing out money for this kind of stuff.

The weird thing about EVs is it's not even clear what the key benefit is. It's not like home phones vs cell phones or jet engines vs propellors. It's just the same car with different mechanical tradeoffs and maybe in the best possible argument a 20-50% raw energy efficiency improvement. How is this going to revolutionize our economy?

>> No.55643801

I've never understood this; you have a car already made. Why can't you just retro fit an electric engine in the old gas engine bay along with the battery and be done with it. You could mount the charge port where the old gas filler cap is no problem. The hole is already there. Or mount the damn battery where the gas tank would go.

Ever do poached eggs?
I put a bit of vinegar and water into a glass and crack a couple Eggs in there while a pot of water is being brought to a boil. The vinegar will emulsify the egg and help it hold it's shape.
When the water is boiling, gently tip the eggs in and give it a stir. Bring the water back up to a boil then reduce the heat, you don't want a roiling broil. After just a couple minutes your eggs will be cooked.
Sorry your pan didn't work like you hoped, I thought it was pretty cool except for the babby tier animal faces. I'm assuming you got one without those.
