I own both (Almost 50/50), LINK is safer but Avalanche is more undervalued imo, The most misunderstood and unfairly scapegoated project in crypto, They made too much enemies simply by refusing to comply with certain VCs and Twitter narratives, Honestly Avalanche existence expose the horrendous tribalism crypto currently suffer from, We urgently need newer, bigger and more serious money to enter the space to wash over all the stinks it accumulated in the past 3 years (By far the worst years in term of social/community progress, In previous cycles we had shitty market but honest and fair community, Now we've a much better market but disgusting community+influencers+incompetent venture capitals). Honestly LINK suffers from the crypto space too.

10,000 LINK is the suicide stack. At it's peak, you would have had $500,000, enough for a modest house + shaving maybe 10 years off your retirement date. It will probably never see heights like that ever again though.
