Why can't I buy things with crypto yet? And by things i mean day-to-day stuff like snacks at the local convenience store

or even a beer at the local bar. when is everyone going to actually start using crypto as a P2P cash system as was intended?

it was getting adopted until blockstream intentionally crippled bitcoin in 2014 by implementing replace-by-fee, making it trivially easy and repeatable to double spend and thus scam merchants. ever since then its worthless for commerce and has only seen reverse adoption

The purpose of crypto is to be your own bank, not to let some faggot gamble your money and then get bailed out by daddy government when they fuck up, reducing whatever purchasing power you had saved up in the bank

You'd know this if you stopped buying jeetbonk coin with 6 gorillion supply

You could buy stuff with btc directly from Microsoft, Steam, Newegg, Dell, Overstock.com, TigerDirect, etc. After many years of empty blocks they were finally filling up; all they had to do was increase the blocksize...

>when is everyone going to actually start using crypto as a P2P cash system as was intended?
I don't want to. Then whoever I'm paying can see my wallet balance. That opens up all sorts of risk for me. No thanks. Its not that hard to load my crypto.com card or PayPal balance and spend from debit. And I'm more protected. I can also dispute the transaction if I don't get what I bargained for. So I guess the answer is that the traditional system is superior for common P2P transactions. Crypto excels at many other use cases tho, and is superior to traditional system in a lot of other ways.

Retirement funds will be taking the hit on the next run, they will put 401k plans and pensions into bitcoin and possibly ethereum in order to make people have near nothing. I promise you there will be zero bailouts for those accounts, since the ones that lost their money will have essentially no power anyway. Remember bitcoin and potentially ethereum is a form of money, think on how exchange rates change over time for different currencies, prepare to do a tiny bit of swapping to maximize your gains.

You could just set a very low fee and wait for it to be dropped from the mempool, the merchant never gets the money so he's fucked either way. You simply cannot have both speed and security with BTC.

That's my point, you can broadcast a tx and it never gets picked up from the mempool due to having a low fee.

>> No.55596905

>>55596811
yes, but as soon as the transaction is broadcasted so is the fee input, so the merchant can see exactly what fee you attached to the tx on his point-of-sale system, and this could/would issue a warning
