It's a hormonal thing mainly which is why laser treatment doesn't work. She doesn't want to take accutance which is understandable because of the side effects. Really it seems like the best option is to just have her take birth control but she's worried about weight gain. I don’t have much dermatology knowledge so I couldn’t tell you the effectiveness of antibiotics versus laser and pub med wasn’t making it easy. But I kinda suspect the dermatologist is using her as a cash cow to pay off the laser.

Tetracycline I think is the first choice in treatment for hormonal acne according dr. Google as it reduces the acne bacteria colonies . Antibiotics cost like $10
