Unironically? Drink keffir and/or other fermented foods. Diet's not a magic cure or a definite cause but my lows and highs have been higher since i started including food that promotes healthier gut and trying to eliminate shit that is proven to have a negative impact on mental health. It's something tangible i can do that is solely for my benefit that nobody can take away from me and has no relation to circumstance. Been more help than zombie meds anyway.
I've found it easier to avoid focusing overmuch on life's difficulties which has been my main issue. Can't improove if i'm only looking at the negatives beyond my control. Perspective has been key for me. Not to say that i'm always looking for the silver lining and with rose tinted glasses. The momentum factor is far more robust than value. Even Fama has commented on how persistent the momentum "anomoly" has been throughout all historical market cycles. Momentum traders on the whole have vastly outperformed value traders. Value can work long term for extremely talented and disciplined traders like Buffett but even the Great One himself has suffered multiple >50% drawdowns and underperformed the market for decades. The vast majority of traders will puke at the worst time during a value drawdown and lose all the gains they've accumulated for years. Momentum and trend traders don't have that problem. If your max drawdown exceeds twice your average yearly returns your strategy sucks and that includes basically all value traders.

Anyone who is greedy and tries to get big trades will lose. Trading is a matter of being consistent and small wins. Mathematically a loss hurts you more than a win helps you. Imagine taking on excessive risk for a 10% gain. Your account can grow to infinity or shrink to 0, and having like $10,000 is way way closer to 0 than it is to infinity. Math is stacked against you, you cannot afford to make stupid trades and big losses.

I have done every one on the list. It took YEARS for me to finally get it through the bag of rocks that is my brain that the correct way to actively trade is to have a TA routine that produces clear buy/sell signals, take ALL of them, and do risk management/profit take according to a set system as well. Back test all of that so you know it works over the long term and you'll be a successful trader. It's when you start improvising outside your own system that things can get real bad.

Yeah, most traders (especially retail) can't pace themselves and burn out. A successful trader usually has to eat shit for 3-5 years before they're consistently profitable. Even breaking even is considered an accomplishment. Imagine that. And then you have to still beat inflation, the risk free rate, and index returns. If you can't do shit, you might as well just go 50:50 on a bond and SPX or something. It's a tough game and I've probably lost $6-8k since I started

NW was like $65k last month, 3 years ago I had about $20k, most of that was just wages. When I started, I had about $20k in investments themselves, and now about $32k. Again, wages and deposits. In terms of real results, it averages out to about a 14% loss every year for 3 years. Most of that was in the last year or two, though. WMT is unironically my best performer
