How badly is the student loan payment resumption going to affect all markets?

>> No.55538256

I think it’ll be fine for the most part. So not much impact on the market. Could help drive down demand for housing and used cars. All I know is, some people are definitely fucked tho.
t.paying it all off before interest rates kick back in

low IQ take. 45 million student loan holders, 160 million workers. 25% of the working population will be taking a $200-300/month haircut that they can't afford. it's such a big deal that the biden administration is working on implementing a "no credit dings if you miss payments during a 12 month ramp-up of payments" scheme.

Considering a lot millennials bought RE bags at ATH with shit interest rates because
>it'll just be more expensive next year!
along with everythingflation, and WFH being used to thin the herd, this herd specifically, I'd say things are looking up for cash hogs.

I know way to many people who bought last year (either at the top or near the top with terrible rates). If you bought pre 2019 you are not part of the bubble.

It won't because the people that still can't pay their loans after all of the free money (and no interest) of the last 3 years are too poor to be market participants to begin with. They'll just get poorer. Maybe some local rents will drop as they move back into their parents' basement.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's nothing to repo this time. I don't think student loans are going to threaten everything financially, after all, the folks who get fucked the hardest are those who have the smallest amount of market share.

That said, I'm wondering if we see folks commit terror attacks. I would imagine that the kind of person who goes to college is considerable more capable of delayed gratification, and might do more damage than just shooting a dozen normies in a mall.

That's my concern, as his sort of debt can't be discharged into bankruptcy. I think the only option is payment plans, which I believe would be 10-15% of monthly income. I don't know if most people could take a 10% haircut and stay solvent otherwise.
