Why would you need to recreationally converse with strangers at all. There is no benefit to using the internet to communicate, unless what you are trying to communicate is “do as I say” or “think as I think”, which means every single person in the bucket is not listening to you anyway so nobody has the audience they think they do. The internet is worthless and a mistake to use, it is an inherent negative feedback loop which subverts human interaction, it’s only benefit is to propagandize through false consensus.

Social media will disappear in our lifetime because it is pointless and harmful to users and not worth the amount of energy required for centralized power structures to maintain, it is simply cheaper and easier to propagandize via existing channels.

>There is no benefit to using the internet to communicate
The Internet was created to aid communication and facilitate interconnectedness. That's the only thing it's good for.

>> No.55517277

>>55517217
It was created by the US Department of Defense to further the goals of the Department of Defense. The internet was not created so we can talk to each other, it was created so the US Department of Defense could communicate directives internally to other stakeholders. TCP/IP allowed them to communicate directives externally.

The internet is a weapon.

I didn't say it was.

No, it wasn't. ARPANET was developed to facilitate scientific and research networks, not strictly DOD directives. TCP/IP allowed multiple independent networks to communicate with each other, including ARPANET, NSFNET, CSNET, and others.

Stop peddling bullshit that has been debunked multiple times.

I joined out of curiosity: it's almost completely dead like StoryFire, and you don't even have a feed of people you follow -- it's just a feed of trending shit from celebrities and influencers I don't give a rat's ass about.

>ARPANET was developed to facilitate scientific and research networks, not strictly DOD directives.
This is the same thing. You are telling me that ARPANET was not created to facilitate DoD directives but rather to facilitate scientific and research networks which benefit the DoD. That is the same thing. DoD did not develop a data transferral protocol project for any reason other than to benefit the DoD. They didn’t do it to benefit Oxford University or “for science” or the benefit of academia, they developed it to improve their own security and effeciency. But by all means, please continue your pulpil.

>> No.55517589

>>55517425
Licklider and Taylor did not lead the ARPANET project to benefit the DOD. Even if they had, the ARPANET was not "the Internet." The Internet was, formally or tacitly, created by the interconnection of multiple distinct networks.

You're grasping at straws, friend.

I presume you are so used to filtering the world through your bias that you proccess all discussion as war, which is more evidence of my original point than anything else.

it's not about twitter. threads is an addon to instagram, not a standalone social media. zuck is not planning to compete with twitter because he's not interested in core twitter auditory(aka deranged sociopaths). his business model is maintaining good relationships with the investors, which is why he needs a very sterile family-friendly super monetizable platforms that he can show at every meeting. facebook is dead and metaverse failed, so he's only left with instagram which he plans to turn into a big expandable multifunctional social media platform, as what facebook used to be. so yes, he will ban even words "poopoo peepee" if he needs to

>> No.55517947

Your entire argument rests on the claim that the DOD created the Internet, which I've demonstrated is not true.

>TCP/IP allowed multiple independent networks to communicate with each other, including ARPANET, NSFNET, CSNET, and others.
And TCP/IP was developed by DoD.

Even your own gay centralized internet acknowledges this:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_protocol_suite
>The Internet protocol suite, commonly known as TCP/IP, is a framework for organizing the set of communication protocols used in the Internet and similar computer networks according to functional criteria. The foundational protocols in the suite are the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), the User Datagram Protocol (UDP), and the Internet Protocol (IP). Early versions of this networking model were known as the Department of Defense (DoD) model because the research and development were funded by the United Department of Defense through DARPA.

Your argument that the internet isn’t developed by DoD because DoD developed a protocol which also networked university research data is silly. You are silly.
