What is Dragginz?
It's a free to play MMO that's being developed by the team that brought you Neopets.
You play a fantasy character (we'll probably have Elves because like, every game has them.) who has been summoned to look after a baby Draggin. You can craft items, trade, breed, evolve your Draggin and then go on adventures in a fantasy world that's built by the players.
We're using nice shiny ethical non-planet-destroying blockchain technology because we feel it's the future. After considering building a game on Ethereum, we pivoted to the Internet Computer in 2019. For the first time it's possible to put an entire MMO on-chain, and that's a good thing.

Is Dragginz free to play?
Free as in beer. You can play without spending a single penny, and you won't need a crypto wallet to play.
If you use other blockchains like Ethereum, you'll need some of the native token in your wallet to be able to send a transaction. The Internet Computer utilises a reverse-gas model, sort of like an old electricity meter. You top it up and as your app consumes bandwidth, CPU time and storage the balance is depleted.
The native token DKP can be automatically converted to ICP, and then to these native computational cycles. This allows the game to sell virtual items if and when needed, and to pay for it's own hosting. If it's running low it knows that it needs to increase the variety, cost and quantity of items on sale to pay for costs.

What platforms is Dragginz going to launch on?
Currently it's being built for PC and Mac, simply because we don't have the resources to develop for mobile. Using WebGL in the browser is also too slow for what we're trying to do.
We have an open API though, so anything you can do in the world you can mostly do through the API, which opens the door for mobile apps and other player-created Dragginz tools in the future.
WebGPU could allow the game to be a lot more portable, and we're keenly watching that space to see how it develops.

What does the roadmap look like?
Currently we're focused on a simple game loop where you are given a Draggin Egg to look after, keep it warm, hatch it and then feed your baby Draggin. We will have tradeskills (Survival, Cooking, Gardening), the Dialogue system and maybe a few quests.
That's planned for Q4 but I can't make any promises. We'll update this page with a more detailed roadmap when we're not running about like headless chickens because somebody decided to take over SNS-1 without telling anybody.
