I've started the CFA program and will take the level 1 exam in November. For those who don't know, it's kind of like a test-based, self-study MBA equivalent that requires 3 tests for about $3k total (or more if you don't pass a test on the first try), but it's more focused on wealth management and investing than an MBA is, an each test can require upwards of 300 hours of studying, as a suggestion. I'm enjoying it so far and learning a lot.

Have any of you /biz/ people here taken it?
Also I have to complain that this board is mostly about emotional investors crying about losing their entire life savings on something mooning. Is there any decent place on 4chan for people to discuss economics and investing without so many tards? Or maybe a better forum entirely that someone can direct me to?

CFA is very based. I watch Bloomberg Surveillance every morning and am addicted. Go consult VHNWI folks and take a solid 1-2% each year

I want to do my Level 1 in November, I'm finishing my BSc in Finance and I don't know if I will do a MSc because my grades are horrible and the best university that accepted me is number 150 for finance on QS ranking

did you manage to become a CFA charterholder? Are you working in business/finance?

Is your BS helpful and do you think it is possible for me to prepare it in 3 intensive months? What kind of jobs are you interested in?

Biz is mostly tards and shilling
Smg is okay, decently high IQ if you ignore the trolling but also given to degenerate options gambling

Cfa looks cool I will take a look

CFA and CPA are basically the only two certifications worth getting in the finance sphere, but CFA is incredibly more elitist with less than 200k charterholders in the whole world. For some it is comparable to a MSc in Finance and some masters have standardised programs that follow the CFA curriculum, in my view if you have enough time to study a lot for the three levels it is definitely worth it.

Is there a point to it if you are a retail investor employed in a different sector, with no plans to work in finance? I work in IT but I won't say no to a dedicated investment education, I do have investment methods but something more rigorous sounds great. However, if it's tailored to industry professionals, is there a lot of stuff in there which I will not use?

I think there can always be a point in learning new things, earning challenging certifications and the program could definitely help you in gaining a better and deeper knowledge of the financial system and how economies work. That being said many modules and notions that you'll have to learn won't really be useful for a retail investor and are very specific and tailored to certain jobs. At the same time there are no requirements regarding the candidates' backgrounds. So it depends if you're fine with studying many things that you will probably never use in your life or if you need something more specific regarding retail investing

I’ve started and stopped studying lvl 1 a number of times. It’s absolutely worth getting though.

You're living the dream, I'm a yuropoor with a BSc from a shitty public university so the CFA could help me a little to boost my chances

Yes, I work finance and It’s definitely what I need to progress my career, but I want to fuck around with coding and not studying so I haven’t finished. But if you want to complete it, I would absolutely do it. It’s hard to get a more prestigious designation in finance.

CFA might give you leverage to sell financial consulting services to rich people. This could be a pathway to stop being poor. You've still got to learn the core business skill (selling) though.

>>55428472
Yes I've heard different opinions on it and some even say that it is better than a MSc or a MBA, while I'm not sure of this I do agree with you that it is the most prestigious designation in finance
>>55428556
That sounds great, I don't know if in continental Europe the CFA has the same leverage it has in anglo countries, but I've seen the possible career paths and data and I'm convinced that it is worth it. Any recommendation on how to learn selling skills?
