Does /biz/ actually know anything about making money? Or is everyone here a poorfag or child of rich pedophiles speculating on monopoly money like retards?

What are some ways to ACTUALLY make enough money (like via employment, starting your own side business, etc.) to afford rent in this hellscape run by demons?

>Does /biz/ actually know anything about making money?
No, this is a dressed-up gambling subreddit. Nobody knows what will happen to the coins they buy, they've just seen a few people get lucky on bitcoin back in the day and they're trying to recreate that luck because they're lazy.

>What are some ways to ACTUALLY make enough money (like via employment, starting your own side business, etc.)
If you're including employment in your list as an option that's pretty easy. You just have to not be a trivially replaceable no-skill wagie, what's your current situation? Job, age, education, skills etc?

You know, the problem is information.
Let's say that you're not a genius. You are not so sharp that, out of the 10s of investment strategies, and 1000s of stocks, commodities, and crypto-currencies, you come up with the most logical and successful strategy and investments. But let's say that you are smart enough to copy a successful man. How would you pick the right teacher? There's 100s of grifters online willing to 'teach' you using paid courses and clickbait. How do you learn about strategies that are actually successful from good teachers?
As for me, I just watch a lot of Warren Buffett interviews. Yes, you will laugh at me, but the old man actually has a lot of good insights to share and he does it for free. If you ACTUALLY listen to what he says there's good strategies in it.

/biz/ is for people hoping to get in on the third ring of four ring pump and dumps and for LINK OGs to keep checking that the lights are still on and the FUD is still flowing.

You don't get rich by working. If you absolutely have to work, you should be doing something like plumbing while studying finance. Your goal should be to collect a stable of clients, entrench, get some hirelings, establish a brand with them and treat them well, grow the brand and hire more but assert control with that inner circle and get to a point where you aren't working. Ideally you learn enough about finance along the way that you don't need your business and can fuck off because you won another way.

I'm saying plumbing because it's too fiddly to automate in the near future, the people who will need your services have access to equity backed loans, and you can build a reputation if you aren't a complete jackass or an immigrant who comes off as shifty. And if everything goes to shit, your skills will still be needed in the post-apocalyptic hellscape or the favela pods. You can also barter and get access to a lot of things below board.

If you're looking for something right now, there's some money to be made freelancing technical writing and articles for companies that haven't caught on to editing ChatGPT outputs. Overemployment. That scam won't last but you might be able to get some money together to buy monopoly money with.

By the way, I'm not saying that you should go with Buffetts strategies. My point was that if you follow the advice of some guru, you have to be very careful about it. Buffetts brand of investing is non-diversified long-term value investing. But you could also trade or invest in another way.

I'm a scientist, so employment making anything other than starvation wages is a non-starter. Currently I work at a fucking grocery store. Obviously, since america decided to funnel every penny to rich pedophiles, rent is unaffordable basically everywhere. I really don't know how to square this circle. I realize everyone else is having this issue too, but holy fuck.

I've looked into this, but I have no idea how to track these jobs down. They appear to be scattered all over the fucking place.

>You don't get rich by working
Oh I already know that. This is america. You get rich via crime or inheritance. If you're VERY lucky you can find a third option like starting your own low-overhead business, but everything is hard in weimerica at this point.

One thing I've always disliked about Warren Buffet and his net worth is that almost his entire current result is based on the period between when he was 26 and when he was 30 where he magically turned $26k into $1 mil, he never achieved those insane results ever again in his career, and for the main mid-section of his life he basically just had normal index fund investing style returns on an amount that happened to be huge in the early 50's. If not for his mysterious 4,000% gain at the very start of his career it never would've compounded anywhere near that much, even his actual 20% yearly annualised return starting just 4 years earlier before his mysterious million dollar appearance would've subtracted a few 0's and a comma from his net worth.

As an addendum I also dislike his charade of being a low-lifestyle value investor, his father was an extremely wealthy U.S congressman, he certainly didn't come from nothing and I suspect his families prior wealth has a lot to do with his sudden never-to-be-repeated explosion of wealth in the last few years of his 20's.

This post isn't to say Buffet isn't a good investor by the by, simply that inflation adjusted he sporadically came into £36,445,673 between 26 and 30. It's almost impossible not to succeed when you have that sort of money in the 1950's and keep it actively invested until you're in your 90s. Even simply putting it in a standard SPX and just waiting would've resulted in you being a billionaire many times over simply due to time passing.

I wonder how many billionaires exist that nobody knows about. If your family was worth a few million in the 50's, and trusts were established that broadly invest in the market while prioritizing anonymity, nobody's going to know they exist aside from the IRS. It's conceivable that multi trillion dollar trusts exist that the public doesn't know about.

Warren Buffets story in general is pretty much bullshit, he made good picks to be sure, especially with Apple, however ultimately the only reason he's so obscenely wealthy today is because he came into wealth as a young adult in the 1950's and held stocks for over 70 years through the most prosperous decades of the U.S. If not for that sudden quantum leap from 6k -> 10k -> 20k -> 26k -> 1000k out of nowhere his 20% yearly gains would've resulted in him likely being in the high hundreds of millions or low single billions by now. The difference between holding a $26k investment for 70 years and holding a $1 million investment for 70 years.
