How is it possible for anyone to be over the age of 30 and not even have like a years expenses saved up? I always see people who are like 32 years old saying they have $20 to their name.

Being a millennial. First job opportunities got fucked in 2008-12. Then one got fired after 2020 right before paying off student debt and likely now getting fucked again. So is life as somebody born while GenX scammers and failures run the show

White men will spend all their money to buy trucks/muscle cars, niggers will buy new sneakers/clothes/jewelry every month, women will travel to multiple countries and spend their remaining money on makeup/nails/hair/clothes/germanoid “luxury” cars, spics will spend all their money on honda ricer fartbox upgrades

Quit job at literally the day of the very top as i had nearly a million dollars, and figured there was more of a run up to come for me to cash out and live comfy through the coming bear. Link did nothing but crash and bleed since that day, as i kept waiting for a significant bounce which never came. My family and i lived off of it for two years. Now i'm back in the wage cage, and my stack is worth like $30k. Now i plan on buying back in, but instead of just fundamentals, i'll gamble on a few obvious bullshit scams too. desu i followed the academic path and am about to finish my phd in engineering, so I don't have bootcamp experience personally, but I do two things

1) security stuff will be very important in the future, if you're going for anything in tech, security should definitely be it

2) i haven't done bootcamp stuff, but i have an old friend who did after doing a bachelor degree in a worthless subject, he worked a couple of shittier 5-figure jobs but quickly got to 6-figure jobs after like 1-2 years (after his bootcamp), you just have to be pro-active in getting that first job then switching after a year there to get something that pays better

I had about 12 jobs or so, i kept getting fired or quitting for retarded reasons. I quit a job once because I was late for work for example. But between each job I was off work for several months at a time, so all my savings was gone by the time i got the next job. The most money I've ever had in my bank is about $12k. But right now it's about $1100, and $700 of that is for rent, so $400. I try to work on startup ideas with web development but I'm too scared to talk to people and keep changing what I'm working on because i get a new idea and stuff, i'm a bit all over the place.

Low-paying jobs, because not everyone can get into college, much less complete it

Education debt - not everyone can even get loans, much less repay them

Medical expenses, particularly from accidents - not everyone can get insurance, and insurance doesn't cover everything

Childcare expenses, from getting knocked up

Eldercare expenses, because you can't just let your worn-out old parents starve

Transportation expenses, because public transportation doesn't work for everyone

Time spent in prison, with the resulting difficulties getting established.

Most people are losers. I'm 30 and the majority of my friends are working off their student loans still and also have a car payment. None or a few thousand in retirement savings, none or a few thousand in regular savings. They just wing it and are scraping by.

I was very intentional with my finances, paid off my student loans quickly, bought my car while rates were low and still paid it off within ~6 months. I have $700k+ net worth and make mid 6 figures. You get what you prioritize, and most people over allocate to fun, pleasure and dopamine instead of their finances. I kind of wish I had did the same. I live well but have for sure missed out on some things but keeping it tight. There's a bunch of people who didn't get the memories or the money too, so it is what it is.

I'm at a point now where I don't worry about money at all. I spend loosely and enjoy my life. Retirement takes care of itself when you started contributing super early. I plan to buy a house cash here shortly, sell my crypto once we get to ATH again, and then sell my biz for 3-5x multiple and retire. Should happen by 33 - 35 at the max.

I guess calling people losers is a bit harsh. I do feel for those who thought they could just get a degree and make "good money" doing some regular shit - they did everything "right" by normal standards and are getting boned. It definitely was the standard for the last 60 years in the USA and radically changed over the last 10 to require very specific skills for anything >70k/year; with inflation it makes it even worse.

Still, I think most people can get out of their circumstances if they put forth intentional effort and planning. Anyone can become more valuable and therefore increase their earning potential.

>They pay interns the equivalent of $70k a year
i just did some research, they bumped it up to $67k first year salary, so a bit above what i thought. interns are paid first year salary on an hourly basis -- there is no bump to becoming a first year. you're probably confusing the "signing bonus" with the $5k signing bonus, assuming you come in with your CPA or beat the impossible odds and manage to pass all 4 sections while billing 55 hours a week.

like i said, $85k isn't starting pay, not even in SF/NYC. accounting pays a tolerable wage but that's all it is -- a tolerable wage. you don't get comfy until you gain 5-7 years of experience and jump into a $130-140k manager role.
