I'm the only one visibly sweating as I buy a drink at a corporate function

They just put it on their credit card and keep having the debt roll over and pay the minimum amount

You sound incredibly young and fiscally conscience. I'd guess that most of the people you are comparing yourself to are older than you (even 1 or 2 years can make a giant difference early in your career) or people straight up in a different class. If you grew up working class, you will always have a fiscal conscience that people who grew up upper-middle and upper class will never have. The "do I really need that?" that goes through your head even for $1, $2, and $3 purchases. However, at some income level, worrying about a $3 purchase simply isn't worth it. When you double your income, you aren't doubling the amount you can spend. You are multiplying it by even more. Sure, you'll spend more, but you won't spend double. If you make $25 hour, that's 50 grand a year. After tax, that's about $33k. You're probably spending right around $2000 a month, saving about $750 a month. If you made 100k, you'll have about $57k after tax. That's an extra $2k per month. Even if your spending goes up 1 grand, you'll still be saving more than double you were previously. If you don't splurge on a nicer apartment, it'll be 3x as much savings. That means that $60 dollar lunch will only feel as costly as a $20 lunch would feel now.
