But they need to transition somehow to something else (likely a CBDC). The transition will be messy because there's so much debt floating around, much more debt than real assets. How many times does it need pointing out that BRICS is a developing alternative world economy to the G7 and USD as a world reserve currency. Testing before purchase sounds fair, so long as you don't make the seller pay for it. But you don't need any fancy equipment, just some calipers and a precision scale that goes to 2 decimal places should be enough. You should be able to buy both for under $50.
You'll need to note down the exact dimensions and weight of the coin in question. And don't forget to test your test equipment beforehand, to make sure it's reliable, so you can return/exchange it if necessary.
Also a basic ping test might be a good idea, but I wouldn't make that the only test. It's just to see if there's a tungsten core (those don't ping gud).

If you have your own land invest in it, by starting a garden. If you live in a place with harsh winters, I suggest building a greenhouse. Divide your land into crops and grazing land. They absolutely are. Silver is fantastic buy right now. There is a lot of upside potential with very little risk. If you want to get into gold, 1 ounce bullion coins or sovs/francs is the sweet spot.
Still, I can't help myself. I collect goldbacks. They are relatively new on the scene and I have been able to relatively cheaply acquire at least one example of all uncirculated bills. I got a good deal on 100 goldbacks for 3 bucks a piece which is around a 50% premium. I love slipping a goldback into my nephew's birthday cards instead of cash. It's great because it is 1/1000th of an ounce of gold in a fairly large form. Gold is my guilty pleasure and I don't mind paying a little more to just have a little.

I prefer silver though. I stack silver at a 500 to 1 ratio for gold. If you look at the ratio of it existing compared to gold, it's historic price, and it's new use cases in electronics it is absolutely preferable to gold unless you have a gay VAT. Tarnish might scare noobs, but there is no degradation of the metal. Silver is a fantastic store of value and it is criminally under priced right now.

Cash is untraceable. Even if I bought something with a credit card, maybe I sold it for cash later. It's not about being let off easy, right now, there is no way to reliably know who has PMs even if they were brought with traceable means or they post pictures on the internet. There is about $100 worth of gold in a $250 purchase so this would have to be a numismatic purchase or lifetime hold for you to make money unless there are dynamics in the escudo market I don't know about. That's not a certainty for the simple fact it hasn't already happened. The reality is that most people want stability over partisan politics and will do as their state commands.
