Hilariously enough the bond market met the stock market again when it crashed in 2020 and LTT out performed until the rate hikes started.

If you actually managed to sell your bonds and buy the market at the market crashes in 2008 and 2020 you'd be way, way better off then just holding stocks.

I feel like no one understands the massive benefits of portfolio re balancing anymore

Rebalancing a 60/40 was a way to get decent performance with lower downside volatility pre-2008. Since then, something fundamentally changed.
Bonds are not currently a viable option. In the 2022 bear market, bonds actually underperformed stocks.

I do currently hold some cash in money-market funds, however.

Did my quarterly finance audit again... most of my gains are from being a wagie and saving money, rather than investment success. If you look at the self directed trading I do over the last 3 years, I had around a 25% loss (or about $7,000). Work's retirement plan and such have mostly offset my losses. I've been taking profits where I can and rotating into bonds since I expect a downturn in 4-6 months and I want to have capital I can throw at shit on the way down.

Anyways, I have a long time horizon. I'm looking at uranium (1-3 years), copper (3-6 years), water and sand (5-20 years). Looking at Mexico(!), and maybe China and India as great places over the next 10-20 years, too.
I had a fun thought about KO - I read they caused controversy in India when they first opened a bottling plant a number of years ago, lowering the local river water by about 10m. My thought was that they're well positioned, not as a dividend stock, but for having water access rights and filtration/purification many many years from now when it becomes a scarce resource.

How much of the narrative is on bullish vs bearish? I see lots of conflicting information.
For example, some sources say we're fine, others still warn of a recession.
I'm looking at the SPX monthly vs the Asset Bubble chart, and think it is overvalued and should be due for a correction (we're approaching the second peak before the "return to normal" phase). For example, NVDA insiders sold heavily when it closed above $400, which is a pretty good top signal

I think you're supposed to be 10-40% in bonds and rebalance periodically. During periods of high stock market growth, your bond percentage will shrink so the next rebalance you will sell stock for profit to buy bonds. In a stock crash, you become overweight bonds so a rebalance buys stocks for cheap.
In my backests though, it hardly makes a difference until you're more than 20% in stocks, and the difference is negative. Picrel is different percentages of S&P500 and total bond market with annual rebalancing.

>when I don't do well in the market it is scary because I wonder if I have what it takes to actually not wage slave upon amassing X sum of money
Here's the thing, investing and trading is a marathon, not a race. Sure, you might have a killer trade that makes 30%, but most anons don't have proper trade psychology or risk management and will keep flipping coins until they get crushed. I can't claim to be any better, but there's a very good reason why like 99% of traders fail. Being breakeven is actually an accomplishment.

Realistically, for most of the autists here, joining a prop firm is probably the most realistic and safe way of making it. There's going to be a few people who guess right and make a lot of money, but there's a good percentage of them that are going to make bad choices and lose it again just as fast (look at the 0dte and SOXL/SOXS and BOIL posters, for example).

Trading isn't a good way to make money, when you adjust for risk. If you have 5 or 6 figures and you want to trade enough to make it, you need a 40-100x return over your lifetime to have enough for retirement, and you have to take on excessive risk to have those returns in a reasonable time (eg even a 12% annual return at 50k base and 5k/year would still take 20+ years to hit $1 million)

Nobody here has enough capital to do it. You need 6, 7, 8 figures to really make a dent and the only (safer) way to take on enough leverage to do that is to trade someone else's money and take a cut of the profit.

Increasing manufacturing and emerging technologies are going to be just enough to keep the US economy from falling into a recession this year or next, although growth will be relatively anemic. After that, they'll help to push US growth up to an average of 3% - 3.5% from 2025 - 2030. Pessimism regarding the US economy has been greatly overstated of late.

What non-US stocks are we looking at? EU is good for semiconductors, you've got ASML, NXP and STM among others. For UK there's BP, RIO and several finance companies though all are dividend-oriented. In Taiwan both TSM and HMX look undervalued but that's probably because the invasion risk is priced in. The only Chink stock I looked at is BABA. For other EMs all I know is petro brasil and shit like Gazprom which you can apparently still buy on LSE. No idea how to go about valuing non-US/EU/UK stocks other than the aforementioned Chinese and Taiwanese firms.

Pretty easy to see a 30-40% annualized return as a small trader with enough effort. That's a 10x return within a decade, even post-tax. 100k becomes 1 mil.
If you're actively trading and your end result is a 12% return, then yeah, you're wasting your time. You'll probably need to adjust your strategy or take more leverage, otherwise you might as well just go passive.

Naturally most people will fail - at least to outperform the average, but that's true of many situations where you put your own money at risk. Most business ventures fail. Most poker players lose. In anything competitive, only the strongest prosper.
I think a common misunderstanding is the idea that you need to flip a coin and see your whole portfolio spike 30%. The reality is that achieving a 3% monthly return is all it takes.

Proprietary trading firm, eg one of the big boys that have 10m+ in capital to deploy. They have a beneficial relationship with traders: they let you trade with accounts of $10k, 100k, or more, as long as you have a proven track record of success. Typically you keep 70% of the profits or so, and there is little risk to yourself, but obviously you want to be successful and have a consistent trading plan before you fuck with other peoples' money.

Just buy anything cheap. There's a growing push to clean up balance sheets and improve returns, meanwhile BoJ continues their path of YCC and zero interest rates, causing the currency to slowly decline. Ideally buy a large basket of names, but Japanese stocks trade in lots of 100 so most positions will cost 1-2k or more to enter which may be a limiting factor for you.
You could also just bet against the currency outright.

I like brazil too, but it's been on a massive bullrun recently. Not sure there's much juice there. Check out EWZS for example - near 40% rally since late March. Same goes for my Argentina holdings. I've been selling down.

Most of my investments outside the US right now are just specific commodity plays I like. SMR.AX for example.

Perhaps this is true in the sense that many trades will involve a range of probabilities and potential outcomes. However statistically given proper sizing, profitable odds, and infinite iterations, the chance of long term profit approaches 100%.
If you're a worshipper of the strong efficient market hypothesis and have convinced yourself that finding situations with favorable odds is a theoretical impossibility, well then I'll leave you to that. Short answer, no. Even if you weren't balding, you'll never make it through broad-market index funds alone. You need a high salary, or a lucky win.
That aside, if you are relatively in-shape and fashionable, there is literally nothing wrong with being bald. I won't lie that it hurts and feels like a part of you is disappearing, but there's literally nothing (backed by actual science) that you can do to keep it. Just do the best with the hand that you've been dealt.

Also don't forget that hair transplants can only do so much. Hair is extracted from sides and back of the head and these zones can be depleted. You can only do a certain amount of transplants in your lifetime. I waited too long to start using finasteride because I thought I could just pay to do a bunch of transplants, but it turns out I can never get back a decent head of hair no matter how much I spend. I was Norwood 6 by age 22, but I didn't start using finasteride until age 24. If I could go back in time I would have started finasteride ASAP so I could preserve what I did have and then supplement with transplants.
