Banks got off easy because student loans were paused and their balance sheets didn't have to reflect the fact that degree baggies have no intention of paying them off until the next republican president.
This plus any stagnation in price action will cause investors to lock in their gains with bonds as a majority of their puts expired and their holdings now have to beat 5% while facing down an inverted yield curve and growth stocks have to grow in an environment where wagies have less credit to draw from and less free cash because of inflated necessities. Also none of us are buying a regular chip plus a bunch of AI chips. Chips get better every year ai changes nothing about a majority of companies boosted by AI, especially because most of the make cuck chips for autos and are facing a rough season for new cars. I would like to add niggers tongue my anus, very bearish.

Or the June 2023 pivot could be priced in ten more times and line goes up I don't really know

I haven't fried chicken in a long time. I have a deep frier but it's such a pain in the ass to clean it I never use it anymore, and I don't have a good thermometer for just making it on the stove and I'm kinda paranoid about starting a grease fire since it's a gas stove, so most of the chicken i'll do is in the oven with a panko breading or just bone in thighs with this cajun spice rub i've perfected over the years and just keep bottled up ready to go. When I've got time and feel like being fancy, I got an electric smoker I'll roll out of my garage and do chicken in that, like smoked wings or even a whole bird is pretty fucking good.

Apple cannot scale the "vision pro". EROEI has sunk very far from early 2000s. Every time computing devices have gotten smaller in scale their recycling costs have gone up to extract the rare metals that are used more and more in these devices. We will be depleted more and more of the metals to produce computing devices. Fun fact there is only one cesium mining operation in all of north america, we get most of our cesium from china which is getting more and more disconnected from international trade. Cesium is crucial to GPS technology, modern timekeeping technology, missile guidance laser systems. Iphones alone are manufactured at a loss 5x their MSRP. Can you imagine the per unit margin losses for the vision pro? Apple will never ever in our lifetime manufacture a "spatial computer" for under 1k MSRP. You cannot recoup losses from software based sales alone when you cannot scale as far as you did with the ipod from 2003 to 2009 or iphone from 2011 to 2016. Computers will go backwards to 1950s levels costs this century and bring the SP500 down with it.

Hey /biz/frens.
If an index fund as a rough yields 10% annually and a an average business will also average around 10% in margins then how is a business worth all the startup costs and time investment? Is the business better income because less liability and you start if off a loan so startup capital matters less? Does it just go through so much money that it makes a bigger profit somehow?
Just been thinking since I have a few hundred bands in the stock market and have been debating starting a business versus just letting it sit in an index fund and watching it grow. I'm not well read in finance or business I just want to provide for my family in a decade as well as I can.

I guess that's what >>55342483 means by leveraging debt to end up with more than you would otherwise have because you can scale up with all that borrowed money? The whole reason I was thinking about this is I might move to thailand to take care of my retiring mom and I don't want to lose out making the half as good wages there when I also want to start a family send them to college etc. someday so what if I leveraged the like 2x+ buying power of bringing dollars over there to start a business (I have citizenship so ownership laws are no problem).

Look at IBM logarithm chart from 1962 onwards. Ask yourself. Where was IBM sales growth in the 1990s? Where was IBM sales growth in the 1970s and 1980s? Hardware? Apple does not have a software base on par with microsoft or even meta. You could make a wild guess and assume IBM's sales growth in the 1990s was around its hardware devices, OS/2 was a failure when you consider windows 95 and IBM computers were dropping in price like every other manufacturer in the 1990s. Compare that to 1970s and 1980s where hardware was more expensive and look at what IBM did, up and down and no consistent uptrend. Apple is stuck its not 2011 anymore where the iphone blew up or 2005 when the ipod gained enough steam to save them. Apple's marketcap is stalled unless microsoft gets destroyed in software so bad that bing and windows can barely function anymore or meta loses so much social media advertising revenue they become a large cap stock. The dotcom bubble was more an unrepeatable hardware renaissance then a website economy, the website economy could've been when the app bubble started.

this happened last month. does this mean the hikes are over and we need to wait out the natural decline of prices or are they going to beat the drum about the CORE inflation number still being high?
My bet is inflation is reduced marginally in the next month and there's 2 more hikes this year, but most likely spaced out with a pause between to see data.

These jobs have always been the bottom rung, but what you can get out of that work has slowly decayed. McDonalds workers in the 80s could buy 6 big macs with an hours wages. Nowadays they can't even buy 2.

Stocks will keep going up at least until they start going down again. We will know for sure when they are going down because price changes will switch from an upward direction to a downward one. The main indicator that we can use to identify this switch is that we will start to see stock prices falling instead of rising. That will tell us when returns on stocks have begun changing from positive to negative. With negative returns, that means that stock values will be shrinking rather than growing. Thus, the prices at which stocks are bought and sold will be going down instead of going up. As astute investors, we must diligently observe the market trends and recognize that a crucial factor influencing stock prices is supply and demand. When the demand for stocks surpasses the available supply, prices tend to rise, reflecting a positive trajectory. However, when this delicate equilibrium tips in the opposite direction, the demand wanes, causing stock prices to decline. To ascertain whether stocks are experiencing a downturn, we should carefully monitor the market indicators. One such indicator is the downward movement of stock prices. When stock prices start falling, it is a clear indication that their value is diminishing. As prices continue their descent, it becomes evident that returns on stocks are transitioning from positive to negative, resulting in the contraction of stock values.

Feels like anything robinhood had in the past they have in the present, most of them are good I guess. It depends on if you want a specific stock (I don't know of any that let you indirectly invest in the DAX or Nikkei as an American) since some may allow you to trade penny stocks, leaf stocks, otcs (like ameritrade) and some may allow you to trade crypto (robinhood, webull).

If you are just looking to invest in all the big caps every time they dip then there's not really a need to be picky. But I have doubts robinhood will be solvent in the future (how can they afford to pay gold customers 4.75% on uninvested cash?) if there is a major crisis in the banks so you could limit risk by spreading your investments across several apps especially if you have more than 4 figures invested. If you have 3 figures then you can just do whatever.

So instead of selling shares, you'd enter into an agreement that requires you to sell shares if your counterparty asks. That's still selling shares.

If you're not spending the entirety of that 17k, you're paying taxes unnecessarily. This is especially true if you reinvest that yield back into the same stock. DRIP is one of the most braindead investment strategies.

A 30% annual gain becomes a 20% gain after fairly typical levels of taxation. for example. The longer you can delay that taxation, the better off you'll be in the long run. Instead incinerating 10% of your portfolio value in taxes year after year, you only have to pay it one time at whatever moment you finally sell.
If you're turning over positions annually, then this is all irrelevant anyway, but for buy and hold investing you'd have to be willfully blind to chase dividends over buybacks or internal growth.
