I had an epiphany when I was 17. Whenever I saw other wagies lamenting how they can't afford rent, and how their job sucks, I never really grasped the scope of it.

Then I worked at a burger joint. Anyway, at one of the tables, this obese dude was literally screaming incoherent crap (due to still having food in his mouth) at this wagie. He was purple in the face and I thought he was going to have a heart attack, but he kept yelling anyway with bits of food flying from his mouth at the wagie. At some point he even threw his cup with soda at the wagie and it went EVERYWHERE. And why was he yelling? Apparently he didn't have enough cheese on his cheeseburger.

The manager came over to get involved because of all the noise. What does the manager do? He starts yelling at the wagie as well. There's chewed food all over the floor and the wagie, along with the floor is sticky and wet with soda, and this dude just has to stand there and take it. It was fucking humiliating for the guy and he BARELY gets a wage for all this shit. At the end of the day, after no doubt pulling a double shift, he has to go home to his one-room apartment infested with roaches and do it all over again the next day.

I can't fathom living in that kind of misery. I left shortly after and made it a point to never work as a wagie again.
