If you want Chainlink to fail, you'd want a higher price for it. The token is not the same as the system which you dislike. If indeed the "10,000 years of darkness" is facilitated by Chainlink, then the people in charge want to have it, and a higher price will make their plan less feasible. Conversely, if it is cheap, they can buy up the tokens en masse and realize their plan to implement a system running on LINK more readily.
