2-3 years — the army still offers 2 year Active duty contracts for infantry jobs. You’re in training for at least 6 months of the contract so in a sense your contract is much shorter. Once your active duty contract is up, you can serve the rest of your time in the reserve or in the guard, which is 1 weekend a month + a few weeks in the summer (Annual Training). Like the other anon mentioned, it’s really not that bad of a deal if you’re 18 years old. If you’re not a fucking retard, you can bank a bunch of cash and walk away with your college fully paid for at age 20.
