This is the Celsius Energy drink company.

So the stock is overvalued.

I did a first iteration of my CELH valuation a week ago.

DCF says the fair valuation of CELH's market cap aka the ostensibly true share price is 60.78. I gave them 20% Y/Y growth on their new numbers. I gave them 10% growth for their international numbers because they are pretty anemic so far. But let us reexamine a China case and see if they can capture that market. I don’t think that will move the FMV that much though (±10 dollars on share price maybe).

They entered an agreement with this company called Qifeng foods. When you enter business in China as a foreign company, you have to partner with a domestic business. They partnered with Qifeng. They gave them a $12M loan and a grant of shares to start selling their cans in mainland China. The loan term is for 5 years with interest payments in renminbi, and once it expires, they’ll collect a royalty on volume sold with a floor of $2.2M / yr payable to Celsius.

A lot of people are aware of CELH auditing controls .Months ago, CELH revealed their internal controls to ensure accurate financial statements are not reliable.

One “critical issue” that auditors identified was their Qifeng loan agreement. Basically, it was a special accounting snowflake because they extended the loan in dollars along with a grant of Comstock shares. The loan agreement is collateralized against the shares, and every year, a fraction of the shares granted have to be transferred back to Celsius. It was a problem because it’s tricky to mark-to-market those kinds of receivables - what do you do? There’s no such thing as bartering in markets. I'm running out of space to finish my thesis in one post but man it feels good to finally post on /smg/ again after being banned for a long time for inciting race war against whites

Okay part 2. Forgot to mention in my first post that pic is obviously from their 10-K regarding their auditing concerns.

Another big accounting issue with CELH is that auditors were concerned that the collateral would not be stable, so they wanted some assurances, which Celsius obliged to (signed depository agreements, formalized guarantees from Qifeng that the shares are with a qualified custodian and that they are solely being used as collateral, guarantee letter from Qifeng indicating the remaining loan balance, etc.). Just basic bait-and-tackle on both ends.

Anyways, remember that my target price of $60.78/share is just a DCF projection where you're doing a lot of forecasting and turning a lot of levers. I didn’t check company projections when it comes to revenue forecasting too closely, but we can try incorporating those into the model.

I think the COGS to be about 50 cents per dollar moving forward - 50% gross margins. Flavoring, aluminum, and packaging are fixed costs and at their scale you can’t really justify a lower COGS. Maybe we can play around with the SGA knobs a bit but I gave them about 23-25% of revenue.


So /smg/, it seems like a no-brainer, but CELH is a bad company that needs to be shorted. Poor internal controls that materially mislead investors about their financials. The obvious issues with shorting a company CELH are all the usual factor risks:

While this bullshit market crushed me on my tech/semi shorts (down 20%) I learned some good lessons:

-Respect yields, if I would've cut losses back in mid may when the 2 year yield broke out of prievous high, I would've saved the bulk of losses.

-Saw at the same time that bank bailouts were bullish (truly thought they were not and bought into the fud). Just look at spy tracing fed balance sheet

-Stocks tend to overshoot/undershoot because they are speculative instruments. If we are in a bullrun you can see things run farther than is rational

-Respect indicators. QQQ was up on the daily RSI to 95, but then dropped 2-3% to to 44 (below 50).. this huge drop in RSI for a small drop in % stock. This one got me.

-On the previous point, if you see this, and then the stock rebounds the next day, cut losses.

All said I am still bearish, we have CPI next week and this bullrun (majority of househeld wealth created has been from Equities. Basically stocks are creating inflation at this point). The day after is the fed decision, expect both to be surprises to the market. Also that Friday is OpEx, so you have 3 days that will shock the market and by the end of month with liquidity draws and Q2 end, expect a further dump after.
