There is no link. The deadline was originally yesterday and it got pushed to this Sunday at 5pm EST. Of note is the fact these are the initial bids the company can either accept outright or continue with the actual auction process before closing bidding and moving forward. There are several dozen interested parties per earlier filings leading up to this and the company will be acquired in all certainty; whether that ends up being a deal that is favorable or not for shareholders remains to be seen. Personally I hope they're acquired by Teddy LLC and an equity issuance is conducted, possibly with a special cash dividend to existing shareholders on top of the equity issuance, as that's about as favorable a deal as can be expected.

My understanding is it's only "favorable" after debts get paid and basically they can't screw shareholders unfairly, they can only screw them as much as (seems) necessary.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought it's just that if for example they have two ways to pay their debts and one screws shareholders but the other doesn't, they don't have the freedom to simply pick the option that screws shareholders.

It wouldn't surprise me if they tried to make it look like screwing shareholders was all they could do though.

That's my rough idea as well. The weird thing is if baby was worth something like Cohen's letter implied and if bbby could be privately acquired and turned around, it seems like it shouldn't be surprising to see them valued at $3b and $5b separately, just based on revenue multiples. That would require leadership that wasn't deliberately sabotaging the company, but that's what you'd be if you were actually buying the company and intending to run it.

I went from bullish due to dumb reddit hype to bearish because the official short interest numbers aren't as high as I thought to leaning theoretically bullish based on the math. Mathematically it looks like there SHOULD be enough value here to pay back bondholders and even looks like they should continue to be a decent company under better leadership, but this short-term liquidity problem looks fatal if not resolved and their stupid leadership seems to have stubbornly refused to resolve any problems to this point. Even if I find the math to lean bullish, it's hard to ignore the leadership that seems to be trying to sink the ship.
