Bitcoin was invented as a tool of monetary exit. In a way it's achieving this goal by competing with fiat, but it's just not going to be the "one true currency."

The experiment has failed, volatility and fees alone make it worse than cash in most use cases. A security is not going to replace fiat money if it's inconvenient to trade and constantly fluctuates in price. Most consumer crypto exchanges are just based on speculation.
