I spent a year at the senior management level in these meetings and was mostly able to hijack them to get things I wanted done. There was only a few meetings that were absolutely worthless from my perspective: awards boards that upon reflection were actually just legalized corruption/embezzlement and a two day "strategy meeting" that turned into a two day long painful brainstorming session for our idiot CEO to come up with a "vision statement" rather then actually review what the company was working and what needed changes (for instance, there was the question of whether to continue doing computer processing in house or to move it to the cloud; every stakeholder and subject matter expert was present, and the topic wasn't brought up once). I didn't mind so much that my issues weren't brought up because I had already handled them before then and developed my own strategy and was forcing it through, but I did regret the waste of time and I think I even went back to the office after the stupid strategy meeting to get real work done.

In the end I burned out and thanks to my efforts (which were punished) the company, instead of collapsing like it deserved, managed to cling to life and survive to the present day. I never should have worked hard. Don't work hard anons. Do the bare minimum and just get off the sinking ship before it's too late. Don't try to save it.
