Financially, what's the best age to move on of your parents house? When did you guys move out? Was it the right financial decision?

I moved out at 18 (for college)
Then was back at 22 because I graduated in 2020
Then moved out a year later

That year gave me a year to save and figure out how to really, truly, properly budget for everything. Was actually really helpful. Unfortunately I wasn't born three years earlier because now all of the entry level homes in my area are 500k minimum

Financially speaking, you should only move out of your parents house if you are going to own a house. If you are moving out to pay rent to a landlord, it is a waste of money.
However moving out to rent can provide some freedom, and money isn't everything in life.

So the ideal financial scenario would be to convince your parents to cosign a loan, and rent it out to your friends in university.
The second best scenario would be to buy a small apartment the first job you get out of university.
Otherwise you could be renting for 10 years before you buy a house if you don't get your shit together now. That's 10 years of not building any equity in real estate.

Wrong. Move as much as you can in your 20s gaining life and work experience. Stagnation in your 20s means a life of regret.

OP was asking financially speaking.

>Stagnation in your 20s means a life of regret.
You do realize it's possible to have parents cosign a loan for a house once you get your first job out of university, and then try to find a wife ASAP.
And your advise is to rent for 10 years while you play video games and smoke weed and then realize you are broke with no wife, kids or house at age 30? But you have "life experience" from paying rent to 10 different landlords?

20 is when I moved out. This is just my personality but if you feel like you could enjoy life more being out on your own, you definitely should. I see too many young people stay at home forever because they’re scared or think they don’t make enough. I’ve been broke as hell but it’s been a blast living on my own. I got to do all of the young and dumb stuff I wanted to in my own home, and I’ve gained many life skills I wouldn’t if I continued to live with parents. You will grow a lot as an individual living on your own. However some people are more “plan it out “ types and want to stay with parents, save money, and execute specific goals. I guess that’s okay but it wasn’t right for me. I may not have had a plan but I’m happy , have a social life, etc
