I just released a massive fart & it felt pretty good. The smell is glorious too btw. if you want to be short on the day you can use the buy button on a short ETF to do it instead of the sell button. some people have a psychological block to taking a short position rather than a long position on a short fund.
also theoretically capped losses instead of theoretically infinite losses.
also unit price, short ETFs obviously tend to have a small unit price and something like QQQ is trading at 352.
also some people don't want to learn options greeks but have a good head for where the chart is going.
you can also swing call options on a short ETF rather than puts on the long ETF, again unit price and premium cost will be different which can matter to some people sometimes.
you don't need to ever touch options in your life as a trader but they're a good tool for people who understand the factors that affect option premiums.
