nepotism unfortunately. gotta know somebody if you're not somebody. luckily if you have friends in the same field as you it can help and you can piggyback off of their career. I thought I was gonna be stuck making 50k for the rest of my life despite being more proficient than all of my previous coworkers. now I feel like a dummy at my current job.
